From Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Karl Knath studied at the Milwaukee Art
Institute and for five years at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1919,
he settled for the rest of his life in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Building his own house, he lived simply and modestly while earning a
distinctive national reputation.
In his unique Cubism and
Expressionism, he combined subtle color, varying textures and arbitrary
shapes. He was one of the original exhibitors with American
Abstract Arti (showing 500 of 1783 characters). |
