(2)Another thing of good news is that Grover,Anderson,John Twachtman and Reinhardt are painting oil painting panoramas near Chicago (GETTYSBURG)and have done one that was a great success. They are paid sixty dollars per week,so I may have a chance of something of the sort when I come home.
J. O. Anderson
I have a black and white etching by J. O. Anderson with a re-mark signature in pencil in the right hand corner. The re-mark also depicts three cows standing in tall grass. The size of the print is approx. 30" x 20". It is a country scene of a winding road along a a creek. There is a split-rail fence along the road. In the center of the print there is a large tree which has no leaves. In the distance you can see a church steeple and also a small house. Can you tell me if it is of any value and any other pertinent information. Thanks.
I also have a picture by J.O. Anderson. It is the same as Valarie has discribed in her 3/17/08 posting. i would like any info you might have about him. It is of a country house with a girl at a well drawing water into a trough. It also has a woman at a spinning wheel outside the picture. Any info would be appreciated. MJ

John Octavius Anderson participated in the Western Art Association which changed its name to the "Shiloh Panorama Company" on Monday, May 18, 1885.
I have a print from the 1800's copywrited by John O. Anderson. The scene has a tree in the middle, a house to the right, a creek going through a broken wood rail fence to the left. A road going up through the middle by the tree to a church steeple in the background. It also has three cows drawn at the bottom on the left side and signed by J.O.Anderson.
Does anyone have any information regarding this scene? It has been in my family for over 75 years.
