Whereabouts of the Mary Graves Cora Swiss and Kristine Frost mention
The Mary Graves who used to sell on the sidewalk in Santa Barbara moved with her husband Vic up in the area of Mill Valley, CA . she is not the same as Mary de vernier Graves, as she would not have been born yet in 1924. My guess is that she is no longer in the business of selling her art otherwise one would be able to find her or her art on the net.
Mary de Bernier Graves
I have a signed painting Mary did in 1924 of The South Building at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Most would recognize as The Old Well. Mary did many portraits as well. I am afraid she is no longer with us.
Mary Graves portrait painter
The Mary Graves I know about was a talented portrait painter who lived and painted in Chapel Hill North Carolina. At age 2 I sat for my portrait. (she got me to do this by amusing me with a child's tea set). She also painted my father, Edward K. Graham, as a student at the University of North Carolina(circa 1930, and, and other North Carolineans. I still have the paintings (in oil), which are lovely, hanging in my house. She was my great aunt (by marriage). i will try to obtain more information and add to this post in the future.
I would like to add to my previous inquiry by saying that I have an original work of art by Mary Graves, and it is titled.......It Is Written In The Stars. I have often wondered what happened to the artist, where she is, etc. I purchased this piece on the 'sidewalk' in Santa Barbara, Calif. about 10 or 12 years ago.
I am inquiring as to whether or not Mary de Berniere is also "Mary Graves" the 'coffee poster artist" I am simply curious, as I have been unable to locate any information at all on Mary Graves.
