I have a oil canvas painting by salvati. I don't see this painting anywhere, but it is smiilar to his other work. It is the garden scene high above the sea, as in "capri", but there is a monk sitiing and reading....what painting is this??
It appears to be an original. A friend of my Mom's gave it to her about 40 years ago...?

A pair of oil Paintings by Salvati AKA Cayati
I do not have a first name for this painter anywhere on the paintings. Just Salvati also known as Cayati born 1920 in southern Italy. This info is posted on the back in type on a paper. In addtion I can see 3 round stamps, which I can not read beside each round stamp ther is a stamp of a number. Also a number hand written on the canvas. The are both seascapes and are both signed. except one is signed in the righthand corner the other just left of center. The are both stretched canavas on wood frames with a black outer edge with a inside gold and black strip. One is numbered 8 on the back canvas the other is numbered 1074. What are these paintings ? Are the original or reproductions? How do I find their names?

I have a Salvati seascape that was framed by The Academy Art Company, 149 W. Montauk Ave., Lindenhurst, N.Y. TUrner 8-5635 is the phone number on the label.... The seascape features the aqua sea with some rocks in the foreground.

Prolific Salvati
G. Salvati's work is everywhere. He did nice pieces and small commercial pieces. His things used to be for sale at a fine arts shop in Cincinnati, OH years back. You see his work constantly on ebay. I alone have 5 pieces so there must be thousands out there.
