Hanna Walker was my great-great-aunt on my mother's side. We have several of her works distributed throughout the family. I have an earlier work of hers. It is a stilllife of geraniums and zinnias on a burgandy backdrop. It is an interesting piece because it is a little different style than her usual landscapes. I enjoy it for its reich jeweltone colorscheme, and it is neat knowing I am connected to such a wonderful artist.

I can't believe I found this. Hannah Walker was a relative of my husbands'. She was a artist from Luling Texas. She lived from 1876-1945. There was a showing in Luling on May 9, 2009 of her paintings. In 1950 numerous paintings were sold and used to construct the the Fellowship Hall of the Episcopal Church in Luling. There are several shops that handle early texas artists. Thank you for bringing her back to life for me and apprciating her work.

I, too, have a Hanna Walker oil of the Zedler Mill, painted in that same timeframe. She was an early Texas female artist. Suggest you contack David Dike, whose gallery sold the only work of hers sold at auction. See AskArt's Auction records for her.
