SUSAN & GEOFF
Painting given to us by Jack
Is this Jack white from San Antonio who gave us the only painting he did of african wildlife - lion & lioness
Warm and cool
Mr. White recently claimed to give a struggling painter this good advice: since cool colors seem to recede while warm colors advance, it is important to make one's backgrounds cool, and foregrounds warm. Mr. White seemed quite pleased with himself for passing along this gem of wisdom.
The one problem is that it is totally FALSE!
John Ruskin, maybe the greatest expert on art who ever lived, totally demolished this nonsense more than 150 years ago. Ruskin said that if you put a blue hatbox and red hatbox side by side on a shelf, the blue box would not seem even one inch farther away than the red one. Further, Ruskin pointed out that in a sunset picture you cannot possibly achieve any greater sense of distance than with the orange (warm) clouds, while the blue (cool) clouds seem much closer. You can read Ruskin's full discussion of this point in his book "The Elements of Drawing."
My family have several gold leafs from Jack. All from the early 70's. One is a large boat (in red) A longhorn, a buffalo, and some scenes. The football player one sounds really cool.
In the early 70's I was showing my paintings at an art show in New Braunfels, Tx. when a handsome young man driving a sharp looking sports car drove up, stopped and came over to look at my paintings. He told me one of them was "very nice", I said thanks and he moved on. My friend got very excited and asked if I knew who he was, I said not a clue. She told me he was Jack White. I have been proud to have that painting on a wall of my home all these years. Wow!
Jack White Left Handed
I have a really beautiful oil painting of an American Indian from Jack White, with "Painted Left Handed by Jack White" on the back. I haven't been able to find any more of these on the web. I corresponded with Jack and he said it was indeed one of his, but of course doesn't know the value...anyone else have a piece from the left handed period?

Jack White - Indian paintings?
I bought a denim jacket (Western style ) in Santa Fe about 10 -15 years ago. The painting on the back is a wonderful warrior. Inside a front panel is a signature, Jack White. Could this be the Texas/ Austin artist?
From Jack White's website
From Jack White's website: "Jack White doesn't give appraisals on his paintings or assist in selling old ones."
"It is with confidence that I say my epic historical novel on Texas will be a successful published book. With the book my name will resurface in the art world. When that happens the true collectors will began to surface. Be aware you own an extremely rare piece of art. Once the technique is exposed to the Christies and Sothebys in the world of art collectors you can expect the Echruseos to explode and reach a six figure plateau."
Jack's Texas book he refers to was self-published in 2008.
Too Early Echruseous?
My father purchased a tiger done in the Echruseous method by Jack White in 1967. My father died in 1969. Jack White's website says he invented the method in 1970. I have not yet contacted an appraiser but plan to soon. Can anyone fill me in on why the date varance exist?

JACK WHITE PAINTINGS
Is Jack White living in Belize?
Does anyone have a copy of a signed painting?
Seems to me that no one ever comes back to post about what they find out about their Whites. All I know I learned from the artist himself: his botanicals and smaller prints are from earlier in his career in the echruseos at least. I do not know which colors of the echruseos are more valuable.
Do these Sell?
My grandfather was very good friends with Mr. White. We have probably 45 paintings ranging from gold leaf, sketches, etc.
I am curious to know if anyone of these are worth anything?

I was a cocktail waitress at Hilton Richardson in '83 when Jack White came in and presented me with a signed print of a road runner. So appropriate, since that time I have become a meeting planner and love to travel. He has a contact on his website whereby you can contact them to see what your piece is worth. Mine is a treasure I cannot part with. I would love to see the Echruseos works, they sound spectacular. Best regards, Teresa
Jack White Echruseos Pony
I was received this gold leaf of a pony in 1976 when Mr. White was the Texas Artist. I, like many of you, am curious at the selling price. Know of any local galleries that are showing his work? Any info will be appreciated. Nell
Jack White prints.
I have 2 limited addition prints that are signed by "Jack White". I want to find out if it is the same Jack White we are talking about here. Hand writen on the back of one is "Fall Hill Country" and on the other is "Sping Hill Country", (I assume he meant "Spring"). And hand writen in the lower right front corner of each is "89/100 Jack White". The prints are in good shape, having been mounted and framed. So are they his? Thanks! David
Indian portrait with bird of prey
I purchased at a thrift shop a large oil with a full face of an indian man, a bird of prey and smaller figures in the backgound. Beautiful colors and signed at the top left Jack White, any info I can find does not note as to whether he painted indians of the southwest. Painting is 22x44 on some type of material that is not canvas. Any one have any idea about this painting??

Six foot by 4 foot gold leaf
Hanging on our wall in New Braunfels, Texas ia a 6' X 4' tall gold leaf of little league football players. I believe Jack White lived in New Braunfels at one time and could have done this while living here. It is in excellent shape. If anyone knows anything about this, we would appreciate the information.
Have sketch of Jack White and friends on horses. Can't discern if done in pencil or charcoal. Planning to frame it for my brother but was curious if any more copies are out there. Thanks
original jack white
Did Jack White paint a painting called "The Duke". The painting was of John Wayne leading a pack horse. I believe I may have the original.
For those of you that need a value on your gold leaf paintings, there is one art appraiser that is quite familiar with Jack White's work. After speaking with Mr. White, he personally recommends Brett Maly from Vegas. His contact information is on Jack White's website.
I have a set of 4 echruseos portraits of Texas Ranger Captains that was commissioned by the Waco Ranger Museum. Mr. White explained that he did several and one set is actualy in the Smithsonian.
I do not mind sharing pics.
Black Gold Leaf Lion & Lioness
I inherited a 4 ft by 3 ft Jack White Gold Leaf Lion and Lioness. Can anyone tell me anything about it?
It is beautiful and framed nicely.
Abstract Oil Painting By Jack White
I have a rare abstract oil signed Jack White/72 along with email from JW and authentication. Jack told me "He did very few abstract paintings." I have yet to find another to compare it to.
Does anyone know anything about Jack White's litho of a raccoon?
Jack White Echruseos
I have an extensive collection of Jack White's Echruseos or 'gold leaf' pieces that I acquired in 1978. My experience with selling these is that the market is relatively small, but connoisseurs are willing to get out the checkbook when it is a piece that they really want. My personal experience with "art appraisers" is that most of them have no idea how to accurately evaluate them, so it was a waste of my time, energy and money to deal with them.
Last year I sold a framed 24"x30" old west cowboy on his horse, appraised at $900, for $5200 to a rancher in West Texas for his wife's office. The selling price on echruseos will depend on how badly someone wants it for their private collection, so deal directly with the individual collector and avoid dealers and galleries. The value of this art will only increase with time as the number of pieces available to the public is shrinking every year.
mushroom gold leaf
I just bought a little 4[*]6 of mushrooms in goldleaf by Jack White. I wondered if anyone knows if there are fakes out there? Or if he did series? For example, is this just one mushroom of a series of four? Does anyone know a museum or a book that would know his full body (or close) of work?
I have an itaglio process etching of an owl on a branch lettered A/P and signed by Jack White and has the seal, booklet stating Jack White is the State of Texas Official Artist. Does anyone know of the value of this piece of art work? Thank you.
Gold Leaf Medium
What do you call the pieces done on gold leaf in black by Jack White? When did he work in this medium? Where is it displayed?
