I have what looks like the picture Low Tide done in pastels and signed. I am trying to find out its value. There is a small amount of water staining(drops).

The Aliases of "Cappy" Hjalmar Amundsen, the resource for this information is from the book "Cappy" written by Terry Wallace
Born Casper Hjalmar Emerson III in New York City...He was known a "Cappy" from birth. In 1946 legally changed his name to Hjalmar Amundsen in honor of his great-uncle, explorer Roald Amundsen, who located the magnetic center of the South Pole the year his great-nephew was born.. Cappy Amundsen...He used many different names in different markets, why he did this one only wonders? In addition he used many different biographies that went with each of the (pseudo-names) The Artist that painted this painting is William Hughes one of many many (pseudo- names) The many other names he painted under are...J.J. Enwright...William Ward Jr...F.H. McKay...William Hughes...Sven Sagg...R.B. Copper...J.C. Bennett...John Dunne...J.C. Bonac...H.Almar...A.Emerson...And of course H. Amundsen.
Wow...His skill as an Artist is without question, his personality, we will say was very complex. Cappy also utilized several different styles to create paintings under these styles.

My mother just uncovered a JJ Enwright portrait (not on canvas/oil painting). It has the number 2435 in the far bottom left hand corner. Anyone know what I have here? I am wanting to reframe and matte but don't want to destroy the value if any. Feedback welcome

I have a painting by W.Hughes.It is a picture of a medium size sail boat with four smaller boats at a dock with two buildings. My grandfather
I want to know more about my Grandfather. My mother is Nancy Moore Amundsen, born May 13 1948-49, (I think) in Hampton N.Y. I have a letter from my Grandfather from Sag Harbor to my father Phillip Ray in Texas about my birth. I also have Pictures of him and my grandmother Nancy Dennison painting in his studio in Sag Harbor. I have a few paintings of his also. My mother will not talk about him, except for the fact that my grandmother’s family forced her to leave him and move back to Glendale Ohio. I would like to know more about him. My grandmother passed after him on Jan 11 2003 in Cincinnati Ohio.

I have a painting by William Hughes signed W Hughes on painting on left bottom. Do not have title to painting but received as wedding present 1971. Size approximately 32 x 44 inches. Dockside with two masted schooner and men in dorys. Not sure if William Hughes of Massachusettes or William Hughes of United Kingdon painted seascape. I understand that Ainsley was American-born but lived much of his adult life in Europe. I'm also interested in learning more about him and his work.

I spoke with an art dealer in the late 90's and he was under the impression that @ the time Mr. Enwright was still alive and living in a nursing home somewhere along the south shore of Mass. I remember the conversation because we thought the location of the home to be a little ironic as most of his subject matter was in the vicinity of the north shore, to our limited knowledge.
