girl on a bench looking up at a bird
Google Simon Glucklich and I think you will find he painted the girl on the green bench. It was of his blind daughter and she is listening more than looking. His paintings are similar to Zula Kenyon. I think his were sometimes made into puzzles. I have a print of this that I bought at an antique shop for $25 a few years ago.
Bluebird of Happiness (painting?)
We have as a family heirloom an original painting signed Zula Kenyon. It depicts a beautiful toddler with blonde ringlets standing next to a birdbath, and a bluebird is perched on a branch that is overhanging the top of the birdbath. It was always explained to us that it was the bluebird of happiness. I know it is not a print because of the size (3 1/2' x 4 1/2 ')and also because some of the pastel/paint has leached onto the inside of the glass. The lore here is that the work was painted as a birthday gift for my great-grandmother and was finished at the 11th hour. Because it needed to be framed and ready, glass was put on the work before the setting medium had dried, thus explaining the color on the inside of the glass. My family around 1920 owned one of the first large-scale ice cream factories in northern Illinois, so I would believe they had the money to hire Ms. Kenyon. The toddler does not look like any of the others I have seen in Ms. Kenyon's prints. Is there anywhere I could find a record of Ms. Kenyon's private commissions, so I could put a year to this work?

A World of Happiness
I have a framed picture by Zula Kenyon entitled "A World of Happiness." It hung in my mother's bedroom when she was a child, and I think it si quite beautiful. I have noticed that many of the descriptions of this artist's works refer to bluebirds being in many of her paintings. The birds in "A World of Happiness," however, I believe are not bluebirds but swallows or martins. They have forked tails and do not look like bluebirds. I am wondering if the birds in her other paintings that people think are bluebirds are actually swallows or martins, too. It's not that important, but I am just curious about it. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Looking For Zula Kenyon Prints with my Grandmother/Great Grandmother
Helo all. I recently discovered that my great-grandmother posed for Zula Kenyon from 1915-1917. I am very interested in locating a few of the originals and I was wondering if anyone could help.Specifically I am looking for: "Like no other Love", it is the painting of the woman in gold on the stairs holding the baby (that is my great-grandmother (Marie Sheik/Henneberry) holding my grandmother. She was also in "Goddess of Summer" "Orchid" and we believe "My Luv is like a Red Red Rose". She may have been in more paintings that we are unaware of and I would be interested in locating any with a similar woman in them. If you know where I could get the original or signed prints of any of those paintings I would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Print -girl on bench , robin in birch tree
young girl in a green dress, sitting on a bench, looking up at a robin bird sitting in a birch tree...I have 10 of these, each a little different in color and hue and size. One I got in Canada, one in CA, one in NY, etc. Someone told me that the print was a free give away for a promotion...like Ponds Cold Cream or Ivory soap, but I have never been able to really find the source. The print was popular in the late 20's and 30's I think since one print was given to my grandmother and she labeled it "from dear old Cora, Christmas 1930."

Dear Ann Rehm,
Some more pertinent information on "Vivian". Mine is wearing a pink dress dropped over the shoulder and her face is facing left? Strange? Have a nice day, Curtis Dupuy.
To the lady who has the Victorian Lady holding the pansies, I have one, also. The title is "vivian". I do not know its value or worth, but would be interested in learning more about this water color or chalk? Thanks, Curtis Dupuy
From my years of collecting and selling her pieces, Bluebirds and children must have been a favorite. During her long career, she produced over 250 calendar prints for the Gerlach-Barklow Company. You will find many of her lithographs with this name on it and the piece framed in a gold and blue frame. As for prices on her pieces, it all depends on what you need the price for, resell $10 - $80 in an antique shop. $3.00 at a garage sale. Original works, not lithos, would sell for more in the right market based on condition.

It seems many people have Zula's "Bluebirds" not sure but, was it mass produced? My Mom has this print which is faded and torn. She now is in a nursing home but let me read what she wrote on the back of the frame (it's a frame she put the picture in) "This picture is older than me (born 1922) I can never remember it not hanging on our walls in Minnesota-Your Grandpa Gaither use to tell me when I was little, that it was me. I believed it too, until I was up towards the age of five.I always wondered where those pretty blue shoes were- Mom" I just would like to know the age of this picture or approx. date 'this' picture was produced?I have no desire to rid of it as I will hang this on my walls and pass it on to my grandchildren..Thanks, any info would be appreciated! Sharon
Original or print
I have recently purchased an old Zula Kenyon piece and would like to be able to tell if it is an original or a print. It is on rough paper and has no signs of either brush stokes or 'dots'. Did she make aquatints or mezzotints? Did she use pastels? Thanks for any info.

Zula Kenyon Rosebuds
I have a Zula Kenyon. It measures 4 1/2" by 9". It is a woman with long hair over her shoulder gazing at a rose. She has a ring on her left ring finger. It is very soft pastel and on a very fibrous paper (not a lithograph). Signature looks like it could be original. On the back it says "Rosebuds" 4 1/2 X 9 "May be sold in any mount in which other 4 1/2 X 9 prints are shown. This is unlike most other "prints" I have seen. Could this be an original or is this how they were made. It is definitely old. Can anybody help??

Zula Kenyon books
Hi, Does anybody know if there are any books available for Zula Kenyon?
I have recently come upon a head and shoulder portrait done by Zula Kenyon and I would like to find out more info.
I have been dealing in Zula Kenyon prints since 1981 and love her work - right now I am not as active, but would be happy to try to help anyone identify her work - there is also a book "Vintage Illustrations" by Rick & Charlotte Martin which has a section devoted to Zula - she is famous for her pictures, calendar top, covers for Die Hausfrau, and post cards - have a Happy Zula Day
I would like information on a Zula Kenyon print of a victorian lady, head to waist facing right. She has the obligatory topknot hairstyle and the drape (purple) has dropped from her right shoulder. There is a very faint purple coloring on the violets she is holding in front of her and lt. yellow and green on the leaves. It is signed Zula Kenyon with an exaggerated tail on the Y and the K.
