Wm E Daniels
I have an original seascape painting by Wm E Daniels. The canvas measures 15 x 30. In the frame the painting measures 36 x 22. I also have a pamphlet that tells about the artist. Here is the information from the pamphlet:
"A native of Ohio, the artist now resides on the San Francisco Peninsula. Scholarships won in his youth provided four years academic art training and in 1925, at the age of seventeen, was employed as a full time commercial artist. Reproductions of his work distributed nationally, resulted in many offers for his services and at the age of twenty four accepted a position as art director in Pittsburgh, Penna. In 1935 he came to San Francisco as an art director, and in subsequent years, the artist free-lanced in commercial and fine arts with intervals in New York City, Chicago, and Toronto, Canada. The versatility of the artist is shown in his life like portraits, wall murals, seascapes and diversified commissioned assignments. The artist is best known in the San Francisco Bay Area for his dramatic seascapes. Each canvas projects vitality and freshness of spirit. The artist believes strictly in quality and not large production in his efforts, resulting in individual well executed canvases. His rare talent and ability to superimpose brilliantly on canvas the delightful strokes of harmony and color is the reason for his pictures being so much in demand by galleries and art lovers.
I have never had the painting appraised and I don't know if Wm E is related to Earl or if they are the same person. The name Earl is not mentioned on the pamphlet.

I have a painting of a young dark haired woman in a brown dress holding a rose, she looks unhappy or maybe missing someone special in the painting, could be hispanic! Signed by WME 77. Does anyone have any knowledge of this painting or the painter WME. Thanks James
I used to play in jazz bands with Earl. He was such an inspiration. He didn't care what the tune was or what key it was in he would just play.... he was a true artist and I miss hanging out with him... he was one of my favorite people and I miss him..
earl daniels paintings
I have five Earl Daniels' paintings: two of Anza-Borrego Desert in California with a lone tree in the picture and three seascapes of various sizes. Earl had set up a studio in Laguna Beach in a building I owned and I agreed to receive a painting from him one month when he couldn't pay his rent. He was an interesting and very talented person and I'm glad I knew him.
After moving to CA from Hawaii, I studied with earl in his studio in Laguna Beach and his studio in Laguna Canyon. He has been my inspiratiion for many, many years. I own four of his paintings and will always cherish them. If anyone knew Earl, they would not want to part with his paintings or his memory.
Earl Daniels Value
I own a painting by Earl I Daniels called " The great Northern Coast'. It is signed in red in front and also signed on the back. It was purchased in Laguna in the 60s. I want to know who could appraise it for me?
Value of an Earl Daniels Painting
I live in Australia on the Gold Coast and I have recently acquired an original Earl Daniels oil on canvas of the sea with the sun coming up. It is signed in red bottom right hand corner. The painting measures 18" x 12" and is in an original timber frame. It is dated on the back April 4 1968. I am curious to know why the size of my painting is different. How can I find out if my panting has a name? I too would be interested in the list of prominent institutions that own Daniels paintings. I would like to know of any auction values you may know of. Kind Regards Selena Rose
What a wonderful site to find. I have an original oil on canvas of the sea during a storm. It is dark and turbulent!
It is signed in red in the lower left corner and a large signature on the back of the canvas. It is framed beautifully with wood and linen. I haven't heard anyone talking about such a painting in these blogs. Would love to know the history and value.
The size is 24x12
I think I have one of Earl's beautiful seascapes with the golden gate bridge in the background. It looks as if it was painted while sitting on the hills of Marin. Anybody know if he signed his work WmE Daniels.

Earl Daniels Paintings
hello, my name is Sheri My father is Earl Daniels. I haven't had a computer for a long time and had to shut down his website. Thank you all for your lovely comments, my mother and all of us appreciate it. The Yosemite Falls and The Rockies are prints , The originals were purchased by the printing company. They although make realistic prints on hard board to look like the original. They are still valuable because of the way they were reproduced and the age . I am not a expert so all I can tell you is what my dad told me , he went by price by the size of the painting, and that is when he was alive the 12X16 2,250.00 the 16x20 3,850 18x24 3,450 20x30 4,450 24x46 5,500 I hope that helps in some way, of course they are more of value now because there will be no more. Thank you to all he would of said, he didn't think he was so popular. by the way my faroite of his were the non-objectives, we had one called the bull fighter I loved as a child, my mom doesn't know what happened to it or where it went. If you have a photo of any one of his non-objectives i would love you to e-mail me a photo.
I have painting by Earl Daniels in good condition entitle "Yosemite Falls". Was wondering if someone could tell me the value?
I would like to know the value of Earl Daniels signed oil orginal paintings. I have two smoke trees ( orange and Blue) five (full collection of his non-objectives)named and signed, and a large commisioned 3ft 5inches by 5ft.painting of a historic mountain in Utah.
I have just inherited a signed oil base painting, which have been in our family for as long as I can remember by Earl Daniels. I have always been tolded that it depicts Yosemite falls. Any information is very much so welcome.
I inherited an oil painting by Earl Daniels entitled "Morning Light" that looks to be a seascape of Laguna Beach. I have no idea how much to insure it for --- any ideas?
abstract painting by Earl Daniels
My late mother in law bought an abstract painting by Earl Daniels which was painted in 1966. She had it appraised in 1974 by an art gallery which has since closed. My wife and I would like to find out the value of this painting for the purpose of selling it. We would be glad to provide a photo of the piece if necessary
Earl I. Daniels
Earl Daniels also painted abstracts or "non-objectives" inspired by jazz compositions. Very bright colors on dark backgrounds, sort of a swirling cosmos look to them. We own two.
He was a kind man. As newly married graduate students in the late 60's, we bought our first painting from him. We put half down and he let us take it home and send him $50 per month til it was paid for.
We are also interested in current values for insurance purposes.
Jocelyne St. Amour
My husband was demolishing an old house and we found a picture of Earl Daniels, and in the back there is still a sticker with information and it's written Yosemite Falls. This picture looks very old and in good condition. Could somebody please let me know more information about this picture. Thank you, it would be greatly appreciated.
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada
I've been trying & trying for some time now to get any kind of info on a painting I have & I was really hoping that maybe somebody here could help me out...The artists name is Earl Daniels & the piece is entitled "Yosemite Falls". I also have pictures I can post if needed.

Earl Daniels Yosemite Falls
Can anyone tell me anything about this painting, when it was done and if there is someone who is knowledgable about his work?
More than 3 decades ago my uncle visiting from California gave me an Earl Daniels seascape book with the marvellous prints (edge to edge) of his seascape. I took years to paint one and had forgotten all about it. Yesterday I rediscovered my innocent copy of the great artist (The name and his signature in red has stayed in memory all these years) ...and on searching the web I find the very picture on the screen.. I can't explain my joy. I must say I treated him as my master, sad he is no more. I am going to acquire more of his books and start on a new voyage of another seascape ..a big one this time.
I know that many prominent institutions own Daniels paintings and would like a list of them. I also know that many prominent Americans also own Daniels paintings--among them are the Kennedy family.
I would like to know how to distinquish genuine DANIELS paintings for copies and fakes.
I would like to know of any auction values you may know of. I have not been lucky enough to find them.

A tribute to Earl Daniels
After admiring and being awe struck of Earl Daniels paintings for years, I met him at his studio in Laguna Beach in the late 70,s. In the late 80's he came to Oceanside and I had the opportunity to study with him for two day workshop. What a wonderful teacher he was! I feel so honored to have been able to have had that brief time with him. He said he was leaving California and going back to New York. I didn't think I would see him again as I felt he was ill and not in good health. He had such talent.
Earl Daniels Poetry Oil
I have this oil painting by Earl Daniels was bought by my mother in law in Laguna in 1964. It is beautiful but i want to get an apraisal and am having no luck HELP?
I have a original painting of a Smoke Tree that I have had since 1980. There is no name plate on the outside frame. It is a gorgeous painting and friends that are artists just can't figure out how he did it.
Any information about this painting would be greatly appreciated.
I have seen many requests for the appraisals of Daniels Paintings. It appears that those who own them are holding on to them as they do not seem to be being sold according to galleries in New York and such auction houses as Christies.
I would suggest that you hold own to your works and keep checking with auction houses and galleries. You will probally get more for your painting on the West Coast than the East Coast since Daniels is not as well known on the East Coast.
earl daniels picture/"The Rockies"
i wonder approximaetely when he would have painted this picture-i guess couriousity has gotten a hold of me. i bought this framed picture at a farm sale about 10 years ago and there is a name plate stating "The Rockies" Earl
Daniels--it is such an intriguing picture i wondered if any one knew anything about it.
i studied with him as a friend
he was such great person to study with sharing his knowledge of the sea. his son was in college and the two of them would jam, playing the saxaphone.
