Pair of Landscape Paintings G Inness
Hi All, we have a pair of paintings of the same scene painted on different occasions signed G Inness. We live in Montrose Scotland which is not far from Bridge of Allan where I believe he spent the end of his life so there is a slim possibility this may be some of his work. I've been trying to find an email address for Michael Quick to see if he'd be interested in looking at a few photos but can't find anything other than a LinkedIn profile. Does anyone know how I'd go about contacting him directly or indirectly?
Found a George Inness picture framed of a landscape painted 1881 with a lake, house in back, and a lady walking on the right of the picture. Wanted to know if this is a print or oil canvas painting as shown.
I have a print named after a summer shower printed by S.D. Childs & Co., Chicago and its numbered. I can't seem to find any information on it. If any one knows about this print please e-mail me. Thank You, Macie
I have a George Inness print. It's been in my family for 60 years and was old when we got it. It was left in a school that was going to be torn down in the 1950's. It's in a great old frame. I'm pretty sure it's the same painting a couple of people on this site talk about with 11 cows in a pond, 2 people, cottage on right, 1857. Does anyone know the title and where the original is?
g. inness/Michael Quick
Michael Quick does have a book out. This may help you. You can also hire him. It is worth the investment for your own personal and finacial comfort , knowing what you really have.Peace to you, D
For those searching if you have a real or I had a painting signed g. Inness had 2 appraisals over 30 years with large well known companies. Last one came back 15,000 this was ten + years ago. Thinking this will be an easy auction piece, I went to have it auctioned. Michael Quick <~~~ was hired to put his stamp of approval on it. This man has extensive knowledge on g.Inness works. To the best of his knowledge, it isn't a "George Inness"... The best of the best can make mistakes, as the companies had with my painting. No body can be knowledged in all. Michael Quick knows George Inness work. Take the extra step and go to those that know a little bit more. NOBODY can be an expert on everything. It may cost a few dollars, but it is well worth it in the long run. I wouldn't go to a dentist for a broken leg. Peace to you, D
G. Inness painting
I just submitted information about a painting. Sorry I put the worng date. The date is 1857 small pond with 11 cows and 2 people with a cottage and sunset. Any information would be helpful.
G. Inness painting
I have a painting that has a small lake or pond near the bottom of painting with 11 cows walking across the pond. Trees nestled behind the pond on the left with a small cottage on the right with 2 people (a man and woman). It looks like it could have been painted in 1957 beside G Inness name. Very old frame. The painting looks to be at sunset or a cloudy afternoon. I would like to know the name of the painting, and any information would be helpful.
Herron Lithograph 1893 G,Inness
I would like to know what it is worth...it is in a rather long rectangle..old frame..really pretty..
G. Inness 1849
I have an 1849 G. Inness which was given to me, how do I know if it is real or fake? It is has a man and a boy and a dog along the banks of either a lake or river with tall trees in the center and large rocks to the left of the trees, the name is in the lower left corner and 1849 next to it in a dark wooden frame, what could it's worth be and is it a real or fake? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Joan
For all of you who have questions about George Inness:
please refer to Michael Quick, who authored "A Catalogue Raisonne", a sizable book about Mr. Inness. There's also copious websites regarding this famous American artist.
Print: Home of the Heron
I researched this for an inquiry and thought I would post what I found, because a number of people seem to have asked about this. There have been some color lithos of the Chicago painting for sale (records online)--one was listed as 19 x 29 inches. I only found 2 vintage references to the print. The US Catalogue of copyrights, part 4, vol. 12, 1918, lists it as one of 17 prints, copyrighted 1917, by Reinthal & Newman of NY. It was apparently numbered 187. The color print may also be referenced in American Magazine of Art, v. 17, 1926, p. 129, but there is only a snippet view on Google so I am not certain of that. Hopefully these will be good leads for people trying to trace the history of these prints.

G Inness painting
We have what looks to be a painting by G. Inness in the family, although I believe it's not dated. It's a woodland scene with a lake and birch trees, and signed (hand-written) in the lower left hand corner G Inness. I've compared to other signatures, and I wonder whether Mr. Inness wrote out his name instead of using script as I've seen on some other of his works. Does anyone know of anything signed similarly? Any information would be much appreciated. How would I find out if it's an authentic work?
The Home of the Heron 1893 (c) 7024

old print info
I also have an old G.Inness print that on the back in original frame that states on label,"Genuine Hand-Colored Reprod.." then torn and underneath that possibly :Title: Home of the Heron."?????? very dark but soothing. Bought at antique auction. I didn't know anything at time about Inness ..just loved the print. Auctioneer stated on paper was a print or watercolor. I haven't taken it out of frame underglass...but I know there is a date under his signature that starts 18???.Do you know anything about this print??A novice would appreciate any info. Thank you, ES
I have a very old print by G. Inness that is somewhat unusal and I cannot find any information about the original painting. It is of a pond rather close up at the bottom of the painting, with cows (11) in various places in the water drinking and just standing. There are two people standing close by with a farm house in the back ground to the right. There are beautiful trees overhead and behind that the sky is beautiful and peachy like the sun is setting. It is incredable. Does anyone know the name of it and perhaps who owns the original? Thank you very much. PS
