" Mallards at Evening " Original Plate
I have an etching of " Mallards of the Evening " that has an X across the whole etching. On the back of the etching it says the this was the original plate. I can't find a signature. Could this be the real original. Did etching use to be sestroyed this way. Feedback requested. Thank you.
Frank Benson etching "The Resting Place"
I came across 3 penciled signed etchings. After some internet research I was able to determine one is by Frank Benson, one by Will Simmons, and one by Lee Sturges. I was able to determine that the Frank Benson etching is from 1921 and was entitled "The Resting Place". This was etched on "Arches" french paper and is in pretty good shape, although it has a light discoloration "stripe" in the paper. Any suggestions on how to properly store these etchings? Should I attempt to have the Benson one professionally cleaned up, or should I leave it alone? Thank you

Lost Benson paintings
Tom, I noted your comments about Benson. You may wish to go to the Frank W. Benson website and learn more about this artist. As his biographer and author of two books on his work and co-curator of two Benson exhibitions, I am always interested in learning more about works attributed to him for my ongoing research.
anyone have an example of Frank W Benson's signature?
