HARRY AIKEN VINCENT,ARTIST, DIES AT 67 Painter of Marines Had Won Prizes Here-Was Member of Salmagundi Club/Rockport,Mass., Sept.27 Harry Aiken Vincent,well-known painter of marines, died at his home here today after an illness of several months. He was 67 years old. Mr.Vincent was an associate of the National Academy and a member of the Salmagundi Club in New York and the Rockport and North Shore Art associations. He was born in Chicago on Feb.14, 1867,and was self-taught in his profession. Many of his canvases are hung in the galleries of America and Europe. His picture of the old lobster house here inspired about fifty other painters to use the same subject. He won several prizes offered by the Salmagundi Club for works in water color and in oil. Besides being a painter,he was an expert on ship modeling,especially on the smaller types of fishing boats. He is survived by a widow,the former Mildred Deitz of New York, and two daughters by a former marriage.

Family originally from Conn. Have a piece in frame with metal clip ,on lower rim ,inscribed "H.A.Vincent, N.A." Signature on piece in left lower corner. Primarily shades of blue and brown and cream. Somewhat of a quarry setting with work buildings on left-several boats in scene. Visible frame size ~ 28"x22. Can you help estimate value?

I have a landscape by Harry Vincent it is called OCTOBER DAWN. I know he is famous for his seascapes. Can't find any information on his landscapes. Any one could give me any information on this landscape would br greatly appreciated.

Rockport art book
For those interested in this great artist's work, the Rockport Art Association had a blockbuster retrospective on Harry Vincent a few years ago,the book which accompanied the show is a "must have" for any lover of his or Cape Ann art.

Mr. Vincent was very talented. I have one of his works and it is such a fantastic piece. His style was very subtle and lovely. His color and touch sublime. Very underrated and shamefully forgotten. It is nice to see some one else who even knows of his name and work.

WOW. I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE HAS ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS ARTIST. I CAN'T FIND A COPY OF THE WATER COLOR I HAVE. IT'S AN 8X10 WITH A GREEN BOAT WITH A BLUE STRIPE AND A SMALL ROW BOAT,WHITE WITH RED IN FRONT OF THE GREEN ONE. THERE ARE ALSO OTHER SHIPS BY THE DOCK WITH A RED BUILDING. ANY INFO OUT THERE?
