Carl Potter Gaertner Carl F. Gaertner married his second wife Adelle Potter in 1938. In 1945 their second son was born, named Carl Potter Gaertner. This information is in the book about Carl Gaertner entitled "A Story of Earth and Steel" published by the Cleveland Artists Foundation.

Carl Potter Gaertner painting- '...oar, Ohio' Hello, The label on your Gaertner painting is most likely from the Zoar Art Festival, Zoar, Ohio, in northern Tuscarawas County. Zoar is now an Ohio Historical Society living museum intrepreting the village and ideaology of early 19th century German Separatists who lived in a religious based, communal manner. I do not know about the Zoar Art Festival you mention but Zoar contiues to hold an annual Harvest Festival each August which includes a quality antiques show, crafts vendors and other events. Try contacting the Zoar historical site director or the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus. Surely their archives include some record. Bear in mind that Gaertner died in 1952 so you painting was exhibited well after its creation. Good luck finding more information!
