Did frank roth paint "the village"
I have an acrylic painting very abstract people called the village just signed roth bought many years ago at art show on long island. Is there a way to find out if this is one of his paintings?
I also have a watercolor of Canel de l'Yonne with markings identical to those already listed by Margaret (11-16-12). I believe that my Aunt purchased this circa 1939. She claimed that it was painted in France and sent out of France before WWII. Is Linda Roth related to (F) Roth? Little info could be obtained from the Paris etching society-USA. Any further info would be greatly appreciated.
information on Canel de l'Yonne
I too have a genuine Etching watercolor by F Roth Canel de l'Yonne.. I cannot find it pictured anywhere as to find its value approx. 24"x36"
hi frank, linda
i don't know if you'll get this. just want to say hello and that you're both on my mind.
Frank Roth is a fine artist working with abstract images in paint on canvas, or paper collage and numbered serigraphs. He does not work in ceramics or tiles. The Frank Roth discussed on this page has never worked in any realistic figurative or landscape style. Frank has always used acrylic paint (never oils ) and his paintings are quite large.
Many of the questions on this page are about other persons who sign their works F. Roth.
F. Roth Tile Portrait
I have a 9x6 single tile portrait of a woman signed F. Roth (lower left) and framed by Sabra Studios, Swampscott MA. She portrayed in cubist and Matisse styles, among others. Seated in a deep crimson chair, she is holding flowers and a brown bird is near her shoulder. This imagery is set against an indigo ground. I'm wondering if F.Roth the painter did tile work also and, if so, when he might have done this piece. It's gorgeous. Any info would be very much appreciated.
Frank Roth has never painted in oil. He has never painted a canal and boat or a girl with long brown hair. He is not a figurative painter nor is there realism in his work. He is strictly an abstract painter who works in acrylic paint only. The etchings and oil paintings mentioned here are not anything that this artist has done. He has made serigraphs in his career.
I have two small oil paintings that are simply signed Roth, nothing else. They were given to my mother around 50 years ago. There is paper backing on the back. Any help would be great. Thanks

oil by Roth
I have an oil painting, Roth is signed in upper left corner. A girl is standing by a canal eating a raw potato, apartment buildings in the back. Girl has long black hair, brown eyes, green jacket, black skirt, it looks like it was painted in France on a canal. Can anyone tell me about this artist? Thanks
We have a Fr. Roth hangingover our fireplace. Pencil signed and numbered 328 350. The scene is a canal with a boat, house, church in background. I, like several others would like to know about this artist as this picture is absolutely one of our favorites.
I have a Roth myself! This one is #6 etching of the royal bridge in paris, it is signed as well. It is very old, and in good shape. I would like info as well. This one has no marks as some of the others do. It does have a square paper on the back that states it is an original and that the plate was destroyed at the end. Any info would be nice. Thanks.
Okay , I still haven't found out about this guy. I have what seems to be an original painting. I would very much like to know if it is worth anything. If any one finds out let me know.Canal de L'yonne it looks beautiful and seems to have been painted long ago. thanks for any help you can give me
Frank ROTH Serigraph
I recently bought a Frank ROTH Serigraph online and am eagerly looking for more information on the artist. Is there a website that is dedicated to Frank ROTH?
Frank Roth is an abstract artist living and painting in East Hampton, Long Island. He was born in Boston, MA and studied at Cooper- Union and with Hans Hoffman at the Hans Hoffman Studio school. He is represented in some of the world's most famous collections including the Whitney Museum and the Tate Museum in London. He works on large canvases in acrylic paint only. He made a series of silkscreen prints and lithographs some years ago. The subjects are only abstract. The entries referring to realistic French subjects is not this Frank Roth. More information about will be posted on this site soon.
Fr. Roth---Francis Roth?
I have a french etching signed Francis Roth. There is a lable on the back that reads french etching, artists proof, original in color, Roth, The Yonne Canal France, Copper plate being inked and painted by hand, hand made proof, published in Paris, and plate destroyed after limited edition. It also states it is #3/14. The size is approx. 25"x20". On the front bottom right corner it's signed in pencil I believe with the name Francis Roth. Could this be the same artist as Fr. Roth? Also in the left corner is a embossed stamp of what looks like a triangle surrounded by a laurel wreath? with the names Lavallard & Lucas inside the wreath also. Who is Lavallard & Lucas, I can't find any info on them. Anyone know who Francis Roth is? Beautiful colors, picture has canal, houses, trees ,boat with person in it, a path, horses with a wagon, and what looks to be a church far in the horizon. Any info on etching would be appreciated. No marks from PES, SZL or any copyright dates . Thanks

I just bought an etching that is signed Fr Roth, limited edition. definetly framed in late 40's. Needs to be rematted because of acids from paper. Love the French countryside, Don't know if it is worth the cost! How do we find out more about the artist?
Fr. Roth etching
It seems many people have art from this person. How do we get more information on him-her... Have any of you found any resourses for this person. I love my etching and would like more information too.
I have a print of an old French village with buildings, outdoor merchants, etc....hand colored...signed in pencil in lower right corner "Fr Roth"....lower left corner has pencil marks of 2 symbols and the number 500..I agree with Connie..it may be Friar Roth
I, too, have the same F. Roth etching of the canal de L'yonne. I do not believe his name is Frank. The F. may stand for Friar Roth, but I have not found any definite connection. I purchased my print in a used furniture store in Anaheim, CA. I feel lucky to own it. It has the same marks as Torri described.
I also have an original painting by F.Roth.It is the Canal de L'yonne. It has in the bottom left hand corner some marks that read , I believe to be an s and some squiggly lines in a circle. I have been everywhere trying to find answers on this and I sure hope I can get some.If any body out there knows anything about the artist /painting I would appreciate hearing from you.Thankyou Torri Grow
F. Roth Painting
I have a painting by F. Roth it was commissioned by my grandmother it has a date of 1935 it is of the empire state building as it is being built. I don't know anymore about the artist but apparently worked in NY in the 30's
The "canel de L'Yonne, France" has been on the wall in my father-in-laws garage since his aunt gave it to him and he is 80. I've noticed it and also wonder why it is so captivating a water colour.
I also have the canal de l'yonne print. I've had this for over 25 years and still have found out nothing.
I also have an etching by F. Roth, but mine says(I think) " Canal de L'Yonne, France. On top of the painting it says Paris Etching Society, NY USA. I also would like any feed back
I have a water color by F. Roth, title is "Canal de L'Yonsel, France" . I would appreciate any feedback.
Michael K. Yurgeles
I own three works signed by a Frank Roth. They are silkscreen prints and are abstract in style. I bought them at a second hand shop a few years ago. They are very well printed, and they have really grown on me. If anyone has more information on this artist I would love to hear from you.
