I am the granddaughter of Hale Woodruffs close friend Wilbert Holloway.
I have tried to reach any survivors of Hale's family for a reunion of sorts.
Does anyone know if he has any surviving relatives?
Andrea Barnwell's new book about "Hale Woodruff, Nancy Elizabeth Profit, the Academy" is now available. Along with Normal Lewis and Beauford Delaney, Hale Woodruff is recognized as one of the leading Abstract Artists of the 50s. His work is in the top US Museums, including the Met and Art Institute of Chicago.
Our school, PS 224, is named after Hale A. Woodruff. It is located in East New York, Brooklyn. I am interested in learning where his original paintings are located and if there are any other students of his out there that might be living in NYC.
