LH Chapman

Former Student
I studied with Hale at NYU in 1959-60. I own one of his abstract paintings called Landscape. I bought it from him after a show he had at the John Herron in Indianpolis.

Marcia Phillips

Granddaughter of Wilbert Holloway
I am the granddaughter of Hale Woodruffs close friend Wilbert Holloway.

I have tried to reach any survivors of Hale's family for a reunion of sorts.

Does anyone know if he has any surviving relatives?

Along with Normal Lewis and Beauford Delaney, Hale Woodruff is recognized as one of the leading Abstract Artists of the 50s. His work is in the top US Museums, including the Met and Art Institute of Chicago.

PS 224K
Our school, PS 224, is named after Hale A. Woodruff. It is located in East New York, Brooklyn. I am interested in learning where his original paintings are located and if there are any other students of his out there that might be living in NYC.
