Herbert Morton Stoops
I have very large orginal painting by stoops. It shows a lady in evening attire beside a baby grand piano. I would like to obtain any information available on this painting. thanks
My father has a Herbert Morton Stoops oil painting on his wall. It is of a cowboy talking to a lady. Horse in the background. This painting hung in our cabin over the fireplace. Mr. Thorpe, Art Director of USU happened to be at a party at the cabin and was horrified that it was where it was. He took the painting and cleaned it, then returned it with the promise that we would not put it back in the cabin. I think i9t is dated 1935. I do not know for sure how we aquired it. I think a close friend of my grandparents, Miss Charlotte Kyle purchased it. She was an English teacher at the University. It is fun to see the paintings here. They run much in the same style. H M Stoops pair of illustrations
Hello: I've inherited the war illustrations titled "Resurrection" from my father. They are signed 'SISLEY' I believe Herbert Morton Stoops used as a pen name. They were drawn specifically to accompany my father's solilquy 'Ressurection' which was read on the Rudy Vallee Hour by Boris Karloff in 1937. I have a copy of the Radio City Mirror article 1937 on this subject which included a copy of the prints in the newspaper article. Could anyone please verify that H.M. Stoops used the pen name 'Sisley' or provide any further info on these illustrations? I've grown up with these illustrations and wish I had asked my late father more information. Look forward to hearing from you.
Herb Stoops paintings/illustrations
HMS was my grandmothers' brother and my sisters and I grew up with his paintings on the walls. We all have some now (along with wonderful letters etc) but I have often wondered what became of all the paintings in his Masons Island, Conn. studio after his death. His brothers and sisters assumed they went with his physician. Would love to hear any info anyone has.

Hello, I like the works of Herbert Stoops. About 15 years ago I acquired a large oil ( 40 by 36) of the Custer Last Stand! The detail and Indians are UNBELIEVABLE!! Stoops works though are seemingly few and far between lately here in the East. They seem to be highly collected and KEPT!. Regards Nick Penachio NY
Mocking Bird original
I had a cousin who recently passed away.. In the estate transactions, I became proud owner of the original "Mocking Bird" painting by Mr. Stoops. It was actually dedicated to my cousin, Ted. I also have an article from Ladies Home Journal which references the picture. Please share any info anyone might have concerning this treasure, etc.
