Plaster sculpture
After more research on-line, I looked more closely at the Sandburg plaster sculpture--it has Konzal's signature!
Did he routinely make two or more of each of his Noted American busts? Any information is welcomed. I'll keep searching on line.

Plaster sculpture
I have owned a plaster sculpture of Carl Sandburg for over 50 years, but didn't know who the artist was until now. It is identical to the picture I found on line of the Konzal sculpture in the Taper Collection at the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. It was purchased at a department store in Painesville, Lake County, Ohio. Could this have been a student copy, a commercially-made copy, or a "practice" piece by the artist himself? Any information is appreciated.

Dear Prof. Nestor -
Thank you so much for your information. What a blessing to hear from someone who had the honor of studying with Konzal. I have been able to find very little information about this wonderful artist. I am interested in finding out more about his Noted American Series. I understand F.L. Wright, M. Twain, A. Lincoln are all in this series. My sculpture looks similiar to Hemmingway but I have no idea who it is. It is distressing that it was found in just a box of meaningless items. Apparently no one recognized the amazing work this is. I am fortunate to have found it for sure! Thank you once again for your response! Debbie

I was a student of Joe Konzal at Kent St., a remarkable man, long and distinguished career, His works had significant value, particularly from the 50's, 60's --

Joseph Konzal Sculpture
I have a Konzal sculpture that I acquired from a recent estate sale. It was packed away in a shed for quite some time and I bought several boxes of items from this estate storage. I don't know who it is of and am looking for information on his work as well as who the sculpture might be of and its value. Any information would be most appreciated.
