David Birdsey Walkley
Please be advised that some biographies regarding David Birdsey Walkley state that he was born in New England but moved to Rock Creek, Ohio as a youth.

As a child, I learned that Walkley was born in Rome, Ohio, a hamlet about three miles south of Rock Creek.

David Walkley's home at Rock Creek was converted to a funeral home, as long ago as I can remember. I was born in Rock Creek in 1938, it must have been converted not long after his death.

David Walkley is buried in Union Cemetery, Rock Creek, Ohio. An artist palette with brushes are etched on his headstone.

The owner of the funeral home has several of his paintings, the key to the house's original front door lock, and Walkley's palette, which is colorful enough in itself to frame.

Eugenie (who I believe was nicknamed "Grace" by her father) and Dorothy are mentioned in the obituary for David Walkley in the Rock Creek Independent, Ohio, newspaper of Thursday, March 29, 1934.

Eugenia Walkley Sawyer
We have a lovely por-trait of my grandmother Eugenia by her father. I'd be delighted to hear from anybody who knows about the painting or Eugenia.
Thanks,
David Sawyer
