Found this 24 x 20? Framed oil painting signed by Lembke in the right hand bottom corner while I was working on a fifth generation shadow box . The person this painting belonged to has been deceased since 1973. She was 88 yrs old. The picture has mountains, three tall pines and a muddy looking brook. I purchased an old property and it was found amongst some old paintings piled in the corner. We hung it in our new cabin and were curious to know more about it????
It's interesting that so many people have the same painting -Mountain Hideway.
My painting does not have a name and appears to be very different (a beach, a lodge, a person)but it is a Lembke and is signed. I would be interested to know about other paintings done by Lembke and if any have sold.
We have a painting that is painted on a" board" and is signed Lembke. There is a tag on the frame that says Mountain Hidaway. It is a huge painting, 36" by 36". Can anyone give us any information on this painting or the artist?
Two years ago I contacted this site about William Lembke and a painting I have of his from my Grandmother. My cousin has another.
I also had Mrs. Ketcham, on Vail Street, as a piano teacher many years ago. The only information I have Lembke (and don;t know how reliable) is that he traded paintings for various goods and services. I would love to know more about the person and if he is only known locally or if he reaches well out of Islip and the vicinity.

My family has lived in Islip since the 1940's. My mom has two small landscape paintings signed W. Lembke. We've started looking for information on the artist and his works.

On the Victorian Flatbush House Tour in Brooklyn yesterday we saw beautiful wall murals in a home signed W. Lembke, which were done in the 1930s. The house owner did not know anything about the artist, but was interested in learning more. I said I would check since I was curious myself, and now have discovered this very good site. Does anyone have more information about him? Is he still alive? Curiously I grew up in Islip Long Island and know of the piano teacher Mrs. Ketcham, who taught my friend Pam Fischer, and was an Excellent Piano Teacher! Maybe Wm. Lembke lived in Islip when I did? Look forward to hearing from any of you about any of the above. Thank you! PS I've only subscribed for 1 month at this point.

I have a painting by William Lembke. It was my grandparents (they lived in Islip,NY) and it appears to be signed in 1933. I don't have any name for it. It is a painting about 30"x22" and is of a person carrying a piec of wood to a canoe-like boat. There are rocks and a thatch-roofed house. Anyone have any information?
Does anyone know of a painting called Mountain Hideaway? If so could you please give any information about it to me.
