Grandfather's Information
One of the problems in dealing with my grandfather is that he died before my parents were married. Everything that I know is second hand. From what I have heard Nicholas did the newspaper ads for a number of the major department stores in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area. He also ran a private art school. I have no idea who his students were. There are no records left from that time to the best of my knowledge. A brother of mine has a number of his paintings that he did while he was in France/Germany during the 1st World War. I do remember one time in going through the attic my grandmother and he lived in we found a set of blueprints that were for the glider that the US Army used when the Army landed in France on D-Day, June 1942. My father stated he never knew why he had been transferred out of the unit that was supposed to fly over to France in the glider. Instead he was in the second wave that went ashore on D-Day, June 1942.
As I find any other information I will add it.
