summer residence in Pocasset, MA I would like to know if Gretchen Cook was the daughter of Thomas F. Cook who had a house in Barlowtown - now Pocasset, MA in the late 1800's. We live in the house now and are trying to found out when it was built. Thanks!

Gretchen Cook Many years ago,I purchased a water color, which appears to be very old, in New Lebanon, NY, which is right across the border from western Massachusetts. On the back there is a hand-written title "Grasses" and an old address label "Miss Gretchen Cook, 100 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill 67, Mass." Obviously this label pre-dated zip codes, which I believe came into being in the late 1960's. The water color is in black, brown, and gray. To tell you the truth, it is not all that attractive. I have been trying, however, for many years to learn something about his artist or the watercolor. I have learned a little bit about her from this website, but would welcome any other information. I appears that she was born in 1908 and is still living, which would make her 98 years old. I would love to know more about her. I will gladly e-mail a picture of the watercolor to anyone interested in seeing it. Thanks.
