Charles Campbell was my great uncle too. My Great aunt was Julia (Savage) Campbell. I am doing some lesson plans on his work for an Art class and would appreciate further information on his style. I know that he used to make these black sculptures that contained gold reflective glass balls. What is the classification of his sculpture style? Is it abstract?

A collection of art, unseen by the public, painted by Charles Malcolm Campbell has been discovered in the mid pacific. We have a wealth of information about the artist if anyone is interested.

I also have a painting by Charles Campbell purchased in 1965 in Arizona. It is of a woman sitting on the ground looking at a lady bug. I love this painting. Would love any more information that anyone might have!

Charles Campbell was my great-uncle. If anyone wants more information I can tell you some about him. He was a remarkable man (as was his wife Julia). (Well actually she was a remarkable woman.)

I just discovered that an oil painting titled MEN that had pride of place in my northern Ohio childhood home in the early 1950s was painted by Charles Campbell in 1948. We were going through some family archives recently and found an entire file of correspondence between my mother and Campbell, dated from that time, and while he still lived in Cleveland. They had mutual friends. It was quite an exciting discovery and I have since bought his signed/ numbered autobiographical book, "Among the Living," published around 1958. It was a fascinating insight into the man, and certainly is reflected in the oil that hangs now in my home in Colorado. The man was a wonderful writer.

I am glad that others have shared information on this artist. I am interested in his work. I have an original piece that is quite interesting. My grandfather, Roger Holt also a painter, was a friend of his and they exchanged artwork up in Jerome, Arizona.

Interesting timing. This is the first I have looked up the artist, Charles Campbell. My husband inherited an terrific etching of a nude woman by Campbell. We think it might have hung in my sister in laws gallery in Scottsdale in the 70s--The Art Connection,

I have a small painting by Charles Campbell that he did in Scottsdale in his later years. A gallery on Central Avenue in Phoenix exhibited his work in the 70's as well as a gallery in Scottsdale. Could this be Charles Malcolm Campbell? He is reported to have been reclusive.

I have a copy of a small book that is autobiographical with an introduction to Wm. O'Brien (have no idea of where I got it). It says Campbell was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1905. One man shows were held at Ferargil Gallery, NYC; O'Brien's Art Emporium, Scottsdale, AZ; Nortons, St. Louis; Rosequist, Tucson, Az; and Swarthe-Burr, Beverly Hills, CA. He also exhibited at the whitney Museum; Art Institute of Chicago; cleveland Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; L.A. city Museum; Delgado; Metropolitan Museum of Art; and Phoenix Museums. I noticed that Case Western Reserve U. has 5 of his lithographs pictured on their web site.
