Correction - I asked my aunt (in her 80s) for more information about Bill Zacha. His wife Ginney lived in Dallas and was a friend & roommate of my mother before Ginney married Bill and moved to California. I now remember a visit from the (Zacha)family from California when I was a young boy and their daughter (Lucia) was approx my age. At that young age I didn't know about the father's art work; I was more impressed that Lucia could climb trees as well as I ... But I've enjoyed "Rome" on the wall my entire life!

I have a Zacha watercolor that has been in my family since the 50's. I believe that Bill Zacha lived in Dallas, TX in the mid 50's, and was friends of my parents before he moved to Califonia. It was interesting to see other Zacha art on the web.

reply to M. Graff, 11-22-2007, re: Zacha photos
Your post is two years old so it will be only my good luck if you see my reply. I'd be grateful if you would share photos of your Zacha drawing, as you offered. William Zacha was in Italy during the early 1950s and at least one other of his paintings was framed by Harcourts. Is there any special story about how the watercolor came to you?

(William?) ZACHA watercolor portrait
I have matted and framed monochrome watercolor or brushed ink left profile image of a woman in scarf sitting with hands in lap - hand written title On TRAIN To Lido and the date 11-17-51 in lower left corner, all under anti-glare glass. The back of the frame is sealed and carries a sticker from Harcourts, 522 Powell Street, San Francisco.

Given previous owner's history, the picture probably is an original acquired from the then young artist at a gallery showing.

Does this sound like the work of William ZACHA, or another artist named ZACHA? Photos available upon request.
