a self portait by Ruth Tears in our collection.
I would appreciate information on Ruth Tears. We have a self portait purchased in Dallas in the early 70's. (9" X 9"). One of her "people" studies I am sure...haunting. We love it. Ron Kukal Dallas, TX

My parents were friends with Ruth and my mother took lessons from her and I am fortunate to have one of Ruths paintings. I have to agree with Loretta Randolph in that most of the works I saw weren't abstract and the one I have is a "people study"

My wife and I were personal friends with Ruth for many years and would be interested in corresponding with owners of her art.

Ruth Tears
I painted with Ruth Tears in the 1960s. While she may have done some abstract works, they were greatly outnumbered by her representational works. Among these were her wonderful "people studies"--a term Ruth used to describe her near-portraits that were so filled with colorful brush work. One that comes to mind is "Dress Up".
