film on Matta
I just want to pass on some info to anyone interested in the painter Roberto Matta who died in 2002. I just saw a wonderful film about him, which may infact be the only film about him since he disliked giving interviews. This film is very bright, colorful, Matta is very relaxed and talkative- explaining his way of approaching the canvas and life. Besides the footage of Matta shot around 1985 there are a variety of historical documents, photographs etc from the early days of the Surrealists and commentaries by art historians.
