August Cook I am writing an article on Spartanburg, South Carolina artist August Cook and want to know if anyone is aware of a painting by him titled either "The Block Party" or "The Street Party" and where this painting might be. I recall seeing this painting in a book an elderly neighbor had at one of our street parties (Mr. Cook had lived on our street), but have no access to the book.

Cook's prints His wood engravings of North and South Carolina are first-rate, and are included in several public collections. "Summer in the Mountains" (1948) is in the print collection of Library of Congress.
