Trying to find information on Gordon Grant Prints
I am trying to find information on some Gordon Grant Prints that I have had or about 15 years.

Gordon Grant
I have obtained about 10 ship lithographs which were done by Gordon Grant. The individual that I got these prints from informed me that he received them while he was at Chicago University (about 60 years ago). Most are in pretty good shade with some worn edges due to age.
Can anyone give me direction on what I have and how to find out the worth of the prints, if I should have them insured, etc.

I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL SEASCAPE OF SHIPS.ONE LARGE SHIP IN FRONT OFF IN THE BACK GROUND THREE OR FOUR MORE SHIPS.I THINK THE FRAME IS ORIGINAL.IT IS SIGNED BY HIM IN LOWER LEFT CORNER.

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A PAINTING AT AN AUCTION, AND IT IS THE PAINTING THAT WAS IN MY MOTHER'S HOUSE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP. IT HAS A LARGE SHIP WITH BOW SAILING TO THE RIGHT OF THE PICTURE. THERE ARE FOUR SMALLER BOATS AND SOME SEAGULLS IN THE SKY.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS PAINTING. IT ALSO HAS
GORDON GRANT ON THE LEFT BOTTOM OF THE PICTURE WITH 1927.

Gordon Grant painying
i have found a painting from my grandmothers house after she passed away. the artist is gordan grant that has a small boat in a dock with no water sitting on wood pileings and a larger boat out in the water. i can not find a title. where are the titles usually found?

I have 4 Gordon Grants all look like watercolor paintings,1 signed in left corner and 3 signed in right lower corner. I would like to know how you tell if they original and who I could speak to about there worth. On the back of the watercolor frame is a stamp they says they were purchased at Huntington Art Center 3 Wall Street ,Huntington,N.Y.

Found a Painting today moving my mom's things. She bought this painting at a garage sale and thought I'd look this up. It is a sailboat with the American Flag.. Not sure if a print but looks like a watercolor original . How do you tell??? Need help if any one knows.

Grant's " In with the tide"
My Mom has what looks to be a real painting of Grant's " In with the tide". How can you tell if it is a print? There is a number in the bottom corner that says 5252 252. Does that mean it is a print? What is the value of something like this? It came from my Great-great grandfather.

I have this vintage oil painting signed Gordon It is of a lighthouse and the beach sand dunes. I saw a very small one on ebay fopr 350.00, The one I have is much larger. Grant's "Eyes for the Navy" Poster, 1917
During WWI Gordon Grant created a poster asking the public to donate binculars, field glasses, etc. to the Navy for anti-submarine surveillance. The project was called "Eyes for the Navy". Grant created the poster late in 1917, and 50,000 were printed early in 1918. Through research I've found a few notes that Grant wrote when he was working on this poster; but I suspect there's more information out there "somewhere". Does anyone know who has custody of Grant's personal papers (particularly from the WWI era), and if so how to contact such person(s)?

I have a 9x12 signed original lithograph, limited edition, prepared for the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. It is titled "Salvage". It is in the original frame with information sticker on the back. There is no number that I can see, only signature. Are there other lithographs?

old ironsides
i have an old picture of the uss constitution/old ironsides, that was in the house we moved into in februrary of 1952. it has gordan grant's signature, and subject,but it looks like a night time scene. i suppose this could be from age.

it seems to be the original frame, but i'm sure is a copy. how far back could this picture go?
the VERY same picture was seen in an episode of 'all in the family', behind the front door of archie bunker's house, and was dark like mine.
i'd like to know more about it, ie: years it was replicated, etc.

I aquired 6 prints of Gordon Grant maritime subjects on bond stock in excellent condition that were in an envelope titled SMA Mrine Water Colors by Gordon Grant presented b y State Mutual Life Assurance Co of America. Each print is original lithograph size of 12 1/2" X 16". Does anyone have info on these prints/value. Thanks

How does one determine an original vs print? I have a GG acquired by my grandparents in 1953 named Down on the Docks (Gloucester) that is still in the thickly matted and rustically framed condition as when acquired in New York. If this is a print, where is the original, and if this is original, there must be additional prints. I can attach a photo for anyone who responds to this inquiry. Thank you.

I have just found 2 water colors of ships with 3 dimensional sails in my attic. I bought them years ago (used) to decorate my son's room in a sailing motif and stored them away. They are in their original old frames. I have matched the artist's signature- Gordon Grant- with some online pieces. Can anyone give me more information? Gordon Grant EARLY Marine Painting
My grandfather bought several piesce directly from the artist in the late 1920's early 30's. One is a large oil entitled "Rivalry" that shows a large masted Ship o' War distancing itself from another 3 masted ship. The sea is heavy and the paining very dynamin. Large--50"X50" or so. Any knowledge of this paining? Thanks.

I have what seems to be a painting 25" high By 30" wide,signed by Gordon Grant in the lower left corner. Has anybody ever heard of it.

Posters
I have five posters from the WWI era, four of the five have the inscription "Service Series" followed by a number, mine are numbered 20, 73, 75, and 81. One is unnumbered but clearly from the same series. The posters are all sketches of soldiers in daily duties and stress themes of good behavior and citizenship. Numbers 20 and 73 are signed "Capt Gordon Grant, USA," the unnumbered print is digned "GG," the others are unsigned but almost certainly also sketched by Grant. Does anyone know of museums or books where I might see other posters in this series?
