2 pictures we own of Marc Moon's
The 1st picture is watercolor in different shades of brown. A winter scene w/2 birds sitting on a wire fence. We was very fortunate to talk with Mr Moon the day we purchased this picture. He told us he ofen painted from photos he took and this one was from a trip to PA. The picture is signed on both sides at bottom.

The other picture was purchased on another trip to his studio. It is titled "Interlude" and is 1/50. This picture is of a girl lying on the beach. We was told he was trying a new process with this picture.

We love both pictures and our bird picture hangs proudly over the fireplace, and we get many wonderful comments on it. I would love to hear from anyone who could give me information on both pictures.

My husband and I spent many days at the studio in the Falls looking over the many wonderful paintings of Marc Moon.

Truly a wonderful artist.

Hrebruck farm print posted at auction site
I was born just up the road from the Herbrucks. Our house on Portage Trail was just down the road from his studio. I have a print of the Herbruck farm and the Tallmadge church - some of my relatives are buried in the old Tallmadge cemetery.

Glad to see that Marc Moon's work is appreciated.

Woodlot Respite print
The "Woodlot Respite" Artists Proof you have is a print of a painting done by Marc Moon, AWS. He normally marked the first six or ten prints that were done as Artists Proofs. The original painting was done for Ducks Unlimited.

It is wonderful reading all of the information and inquiries posted about my father, Marc Moon. He was a great artist that we miss very much. For those that also knew his wife (my mother) I am happy to report that she is living and doing well..still in the Akron area.

marc moon
i first became familiar with marc's work back in the mid-1970's. never met marc personally, but knew several of his colleagues. for the last 30 years i hoped to one day have a watercolor of his. in june of 2006, i finally found one which i decided to purchase. the purchase was made on june 10, 2006. a beautiful composition of the teton mountains in wyoming. a very nice example of his work. a few months later, i learned that marc passed away on june 10, 2006--the same day i purchased the marc moon painting--something that i desired to find for 30 years. within the world of art there are always these fascinating connections.

a beautiful painting
Thanks to this site, I now know a little more about a painting I acquired approximately 1970. It is entitled "cleaning the catch", a shoreline scene in rather somber blue grey tones. I have always liked it and have looked previously for info on Mr Moon. It is signed with the AWS. I got it from a gallery in Kalamazoo.

MR. Moon's work is beautiful. His winter scenes make me cold. I would enjoy viewing any pieces you should choose to display. I live in North Central Ohio and frequently travel to the Akron area.

Information on Marc Moon, A.W.S.
Several people have asked about the initials A.W.S. that follow my father's signature. This stands for American Watercolor Society. He was very proud of being a signature member of this prestigious society. He worked in all mediums during his career and his signature saw several changes over that time. Paintings with an A.W.S. were completed in the early 60's if there is not an A.W.S. after the signature the piece was completed prior to his membership (I believe that to be 1963).

I have been contacted by many people concerning appraisals of his work....I always ask them to contact a professional appraiser.

Marc Moon painting
I have a painting done by Marc Moon from the 70's. My Mom won it from a drawing and I have it. I can descripe it- It is signed Marc Moon A.W.I.
Any idea what that stands for? It is a vague picture of a hunter with a gun, at appears he is stalking something and it's winter time. There are mountains in the backround and 2 corn shocks(?) I was born and raised in Akron but never had the please of meeting him or seeing his work....
Thanks for any info.

Marc Moon Early Oil ?
I have an older oil- a vase of zinnias which came from my husband's grandmother a collector of antiques. It is signed - M Moon. We are in the Akron Ohio area...and i've always wondered if he worked in oils at the beginning or sometime in his early career.
Is it Possible?

winter scene
I have a painting passed down from my grandmother. Her name was Mabel Lund and she was a friend of Marc Moon when she lived in Alliance Ohio. She was quite an artist herself and my painting was a prize at a local art contest. It is a winter scene, an icy stream in a wooded area with a large mature tree on the left, lots of blues, beautiful.

Applied Art Academy
I knew Marc Moon when he owned the Applied Art Academy which I attended in 1960. I was recomended to him by my school art teacher Harold Holiday Smith. Based on my early instruction I have maintained a strong interest in art and since retirement have began painting in earnest. I would very much like to contact Marc and Harold H Smith and would appreciate any help.
Thanks, Jerry Abernathy

painting
Marc Moon was a friend of my grandfather in Akron, Ohio. He used to play golf with him and he gave my grandfather a lakeside painting with sand dunes, with two figures watercolor.
I was wondering if there is any information about it.
Thanks
Doug Anderson
