I have a small framed what is believed to be a watercolor by Montague Dawson, named the " Battle at Heligoland". Dated Aug 28, 1914. I would like to know its worth. It is set in a deep wooden frame. It is signed and dated.

I have a signed Montague Dawson print called the "Smoke of battle.The Gallant Speedy". On the top of the print it says,Published 1972 by venture prints ltd of Bristol England.Copyright in all countries including USA Foreign.
It is 30" x 24". Does anyone know its worth?

I have a print by MONTAGUE DAWSON OF GYPSY MOTH IV ROUNDING CAPE HORN 1967 FRANCIS CHICHESTER. It is signed in the lower left corner on the print. It is in a brown glass frame. (371/2 by 28) In perfect condition (a little torn paper on the back side)a THE FRONT TOP IN GREAT LETTERING IS PUBLISHED IN 1968 BY FROST AND REED LIMITED OF BRISTOLAND LONDON COPYRIGHT IN ALL COUNTRIES INCLUDING USA PRINTED IN ENGLAND. It also has very small lettering in the right bottom corner of the print and says C F & R 1967. I am not sure of it's value? Please advise

I have a print of this painting also. it has a number on the back no.13 D3486 --it is a reverse print, but i'm not sure what the dot looks like to see if it is an offset litho or one of the original 8 that actually were printed in reverse. Can anyone tell me?

How can you tell if a piece of work is an original. We recently with in the past three years purchased a marine painting. It says (thermopylae) on the back.#t-206. the picture is of 15 ships/boats indiffernt sizes. Any info would be helpful.

I also have either an original or print of the yacht race entitled "Racing Wings" which my mother was given in the 1950s though I have always understood the setting to be the Firth of Clyde. However my mother's sister lived in Shanklin I.O.W.

I recently purchased an oil painting on cavas entitled "The Rising Wind" by Montague Dawson at a flea market. From what I can tell the signture looks spot on from other works I've seen, located on the left bottom. Also on the back of the frame there is another signture written in ink. How can I tell if it is real. Does anyone know where the original is located? Thank you.

I have a copy of this print. It has the anagram in the bottom right corner. I've heard that his signature has in the bottom left corner on his paintings. Would this make my print a reverse print? And if it is, would this print have any value?

I have either an original or print (most likely print) of M Dawson's Racing Wings that My mother bought in 1950's. I would be interested to find out more about the painting which appears to be somewhere off the Isle of Wight - having noticed another person indicating this fact.

How do I tell?
While helping my father-in-law clear out his spare room yesterday, I came across a large Montague Dawson painting given him as a gift by his sister. He thinks she said it was an original at the time but isn't sure. Of course she is now deceased, so we can't ask her about the painting. How can we tell?

We have a framed piece of art by Montague Dawson which looks to have been purchased from we think,The David Bendann's gallery in Baltamore. There is a Bendann's lable and an other with the title "The Crescent Moon" on it. The Bendann's label has a number 51117 on it. Can anyone give us information on it?

I have a print labled "Marine". It is of a white sloop on a port tack which has just rounded a mark. They are lowering the spinaker. I have not been able to find anything more of this print. It looks very similar to the painting "The Race" which sold for $161,000.00 in Oct 2006. It is not The Greatest Race.
I would appreciate any info that anyone might be able to give me.

I have a framed print with Montague Dawson's signature in the lower left corner. It is labelled Marine. I have not been able to find this particular one anywhere. It looks alot like the Lahloo painting but the ship resembles the Mayflower with the sun shining through the clouds overhead.
