Josie, do you still live in Marietta. My husband, Dolph and I live in LaGrange. At last count, we have 22 Millers. We were close friends with his family. We started collecting by accident. Our youngest child was about 2 years old, he will be 48 in June. We were coming down Lee highway from Washington DC., and stopped at the Pallette Art Gallery. We had been on vacation, and had only $14 left. I can't remember the wonderful lady who was there, but I'm sure others will remember her name.
Anyway, Dolph told her if she would take $5 down, we'd buy a painting.
She said, "Fine, We'll put it on lay away for you, and ship it to you when it's paid for." That was the beginning of our collection of Millers.

Thank you so very much for the input. I am working so hard to put together a show at the national gallery. He is deceased as you may not know. There will be no more Millers. He was such a honey. Warmest regards.

I am delighted to say that I own three of your uncle's paintings. I bought from Shae Avery of the Avery Gallery in Marietta. They are beautiful, and I never tire of looking at them - there's always a nuance that I missed before.

My uncle Vance was a kind, loving father of five children. His wife, Elizabeth Sue Ellis Miller, was his guiding light. There were only two portraits ever painted by Vance: his wife "Libby" and his daughter Mary Ellis Miller Campbell. Both ladies are deceased. Vance was born in West Virginia but the bulk of his artwork centered on landscapes of Virginia, primarily Blacksburg. His work is featured at Virginia Tech (VPI).
