Lavrillier rose art Hi, I read your posting on the Art site. I have this print too and I love it. On the website it said that the original sold for $285 back in 2003 - it seems unbelievable. What a shame I hadn't know I would have been there bidding on it. Here's some more info on the artist:
Not only did this talented artist paint exquisite flower pieces such as this definitive example but he was also a talented portrait painter and sculptor. I presume as he was of French origin and that he was related to the artist, Andre Lavrillier who was born in Paris in 1885. Gaston however seems to have been part of the great American immigration period at the first half of the 20th Century and is now regarded as an American artist. He lived in Los Angeles and exhibited through the noted galleries P. & S. and also at the Wilshire Galleries. Further biography can be found in Hughes, Artists of California and Who was Who in American Art. Benizit also lists one other artist, Marguerite Lavrillier-Cossaceanu again, a sculptor exhibiting in Paris during the early part of the 20th Century and almost certainly related to Gaston.

Lavrillier-marked St Christopher automobile plaque Hi. I have a St Christopher automobile dashboard plaque in my bits box. I have noticed that it has LAVRILLIER impressed at about the 5 o'clock position on the plaque. Could anyone tell me more about this item. Thanks, Tony.
