Lessons from R.V. Goetz I took lessons from R.V. Goetz in the 60's and was a friend of his son, Bill. One day Bill and I were working on the restoration of a Model T for R.V. and a psychedelic VW chugged by. R.V. rushed to the curb shouting, "Victory in Viet Nam!"

Richard Goetz I studied with Richard while living in Oklahoma City. It was one of the most memorable parts of my life. My husband and 3 children moved away, but we still corresponded with Edith and Richard throughout the years. I have a still life and landscape (that Richard said was his very favorite) and also a seated nude pastel by Edith. We enjoyed our visits at his home..he was one in a million! Patricia

Mr R.V.Goetz Hello my name is Ronald and my father was Don Wilson, County Assessor in Oklahoma County for about 16 years. And in his office hung a portrait of President J.F.K. the date is 1961. So when he passed away my mother gave it to me. And I was wondering how many portraits did he paint? On here it does not mention him painting many. If I overlooked it I apologize. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Ronnie Wilson

My mother, Violet Starr, studied with Richard and became an accomplished artist. I have one of Richard's oils and one of his wife's oils, that I received from my mother before her death. She studied in Oklahoma and Santa Fe.

Goetz Family Memories Hello. The Goetz's were my neighbors in Oklahoma City when I was growing up and I knew them all very well. We moved away in 1966, yet I stayed in touch with them for several years after and pick up snippets about them now and again. Mary Anna is the oldest child and is an accomplished artist and teacher. Susan is the youngest daughter and is an equally accomplished painter. George was the youngest and is also an artist. I am not aware if the other children, Billy, Ginny, and Victor ever became artists. I distinctly remember when Mr. Goetz began painting the Hopi Kachina Dolls for which he became so well known. His passion to paint them was immediate and intense. He had dozens and dozens of them strewn around his studio. Probably my most vivid memory of Mr. Goetz is that of him working at one of the very large easels in his home studio while the New York Metropolitan Opera was blaring on the cabinet stereo. In the evening he'd walk around the house gently swirling a Scotch on the rocks as he spoke with a fellow artist who stopped by to chat. Mrs. Goetz was also a wonderful artist and was one of the most stoic and patient women I've ever known. It was a huge treat to grow up around such a great family of artists. Thanks for allowing me to share a few of my memories. Best regards, Preston Dane

Daughter of RV Goetz I found some information of R.V. Goetz' daughter: Susan Goetz grew up studying still life painting with her father Richard V. Goetz and figure painting and drawing with her mother, Edith Day Goetz. Today her canvasses combine her long-standing interest in still life painting with an equally avid concern for portrait and figurative work.

R. V. Goetz I found some information regarding the American artist Richard V. Goetz. He was an Oklahoma artist and teacher who later instructed at the Art Students League in New York City.
I recently bought a painting of his done in White on Black? not sure what the medium is called. I bought it at an auction here in OK. It size is about 8'x10" and looks like an old town seen from the 1800's with horses and carriages and flags. It is possible that it might be a 4th of July parade.
