Albert Francois Fleury and "Panorama for a Small City"
I am writing the first comprehensive book about rotunda panoramas from the American point of view. These were the biggest paintings in the world, 50 x 400=20,000 square feet, that were housed in their own rotundas which were 16-sided polygons. In 1893 Chicago had 6 panorama rotundas and 6 panorama companies.Albert Francois Fleury helped paint the "Chicago Fire Panorama" for Reed & Gross, located on Michigan Avenue between Madison and Monroe. The name of my book will be "Panorama for a Small City."
