Sunday Morning A.DURAND Hello, I was wondering if someone could answer the question of the picture SUNDAY MORNING A DURAND This picture was left in a house I purchased. My son admired the picture and the old homeowner left it for us to have. On the rocks at the left bottom of the picture is the autograph A B DURAND.. Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Jill Friedman

There are three lines of verse from Thompson's Seasons under the image. it also reads "Printed and published by JR Burton, New York". It is in good to fair condition, and is printed on a light vellum. Photos available upon request. Any information regarding value would be sincerely appreciated.

Painting by A.B.Durand called Sunday Morning A reproduction painting hangs in a historical antebellum plantation house I interpret that is unsigned but a lady tourist said was called Sunday Morning. I have always called it Going to Church. Anyway, it looks colonial and there is a family exiting a gate from their cottage in the woods to walk a dirt lane leading to a church in the distant background appearing in a break in the treeline horizon. A elderly looking man is already in front of them heading down this road. One child is kneeling down tieing its shoe. There is another child and the mother and father. It is a country setting. It looks English to me but is probably American. It does look like countryside you would expect to see in New York but no mountains are seen. It is a beautiful landscape painting with human activity in it which is these people going to church. I would just like to know if this painting...probably a reporduction...is by this man named Asher Brown Durand. Since the house has been open to public tours no one has ever figured out who the painter of this painting is. It would add to our intrpretation to know and we would include how we came to find out its name in our tour as it is still a mystery to us who painted it. Thanks.

Declaration of Independence engraving Through extensive geneology research, it is apparent that Asher Durand is my 6th Great Uncle. Recently a print of his famous 'Declaration of Independence' engraving was passed down to me from my grandma. While I have the provenance of the print, I'm looking for more information, as far as quantity produced, value, other info, etc.

Sunday Morning I've purchased a painting of Sunday Morning. Well I think its a paining as you can see and feel the brush marks. It's in a glorious gold frame. When researching this painting I noticed that there are companies that sell prints on canvas. So how do I know if this is a real painting? Any advise will be grateful

Need Authentication help I am seeking any assistance with information on a series of paintings my Mom and her sister have, 5 in total. The storey is our grandfather won them in a poker game in europe long ago and they, along with a piano and other items were shipped via cape cod. Some research led us to beleive they could be the missing 5 Asher B. Durand paintings from Europe but the only time we looked into it, we can only find info on the one in your site. The paintings look just like the ones on AskArt, are in gold frames, and one has sheep. Between them, they have 5, in gold frames- all original.s but so far, the only person I spoke to(15+ years ago) said they are probably American.
We actually know nothing more but do worry as they hang in a trailer, in the middle of nowhere......USA
Please help, any guidance is appreciated.
Thank you, Glenn Schoeneck glennschoeneck@cox.net

The Stone Church During 1747-48, Durand visited the Town of Dover in Dutchess Co. NY. He visited the beautiful stone cathedral formation called the Stone Church. He made several charcoal sketches of the Church, which was a refuge for the Pequot warrior Sassacus in 1638. The Town is looking for ways to protect and preserve this spot. Any further information on The Stone Church, also sketched by Benson Lossing, would be most welcome. Thanks much.
