J. G. Brown litograph
I recently gained possession of a large lithograph of three young boys, similar to his street boys, signed in the lower right corner by J. G. Brown. Do these lithographs have any value? The picture looks very old and I haven't seen any other pictures by Brown that look like this one. I would love to know the name of it.

J. G. Brown
I have a small (7 x 10) painting of a black boy with bellows seated near a hearth. It looks like a J. G. Brown, but appears to be signed G. J. Brown in the lower r. corner. It is old, on board, in an old jesso gold leaf frame.Does anyone know who the artist is, or if J. G. Brown ever signed this way?
Thanks,

Mari

Painting in my posession
I ahve a beautiful intact water colour dated and signed: "after Mucha by J.G." (Autum)

I found this years back on a skip full of rubish and the original frame was full of wood worms, therefore I was forced to take it to be reframed. I was then told by the person who did the work that the sourrounding mont was hadn cut and hand painted.

I have been todl by a friend that this looks the work of J G Brown and that I should take it to and Art Dealer to confirm this.

Is there anyone that know something about this and can help me?

Would be very obliged to hear from you,

Thanks in advance

C O'Rourke

JG Brown Portrait
I have a portrait of a Victorian woman unsigned and undated but in a frame with a plaque that reads JG Brown. There is also writing on the back of the canvas JG Brown ANA. MOST odd, however is that there is a number painted into the upper right corner of the painting by he artist himself "747". It even has a nicely painted drop shadow. ANY idea if John G. Brown painted portraits and numbered them?

I see many entries by J. G. Brown so my piece cant be rare. I have one with four old "crusty" men sitting around what appears to be a room in an old farmhouse. Any info? Maybe the Wadsworth anthenium could shed some light on this painting or maybe somebody else heard of this particular work. Itis in excellent condition. Thank you

Unsigned painting
Does anyone know if there are many early unsigned Brown paintings. I have an early unsigned painting of two boys playing marbles that are very similar to Browns style.

Does anyone have information on this untitled etching? It is a shoeshine boy with a shoeshine box in one hand and a shoe brush in the other. Below the etched portion it has what I was told was a "remark" image. It is dated 1887 and is signed in pencil by both artists. In the etched portion is has "J. G. Brown N.A." and "etched by H. Pruett Share." The lithograph is in a gold leave frame. It has been in my family for at least 100 years. I have info on J.G. Brown but any other would be appreciated. Thanks

"Looking for Papa"
I have an engraving of a little girl holding onto a wood fence in a wooded area. Under the picture it reads: Engraved for the Ladies Repository (Cincinatti)by R. Hinshelwood from a picture by J.G. Brown: Owned by S.P. Avery. NY.

Under that is the title: "Looking for Papa"

We have always been interested in J.G. Brown's work as my husband- Sanford Brown Holden - is his great grandson. Any information about this picture?

JG Brown
Many years ago, my mother sold a JG Brown painting that I believe was titled "A boy and his dog". With the painting was orignal correspondence between the artist and the first owners of the painting, the Syme family of Cape Cod. If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of this painting, I would love to hear about it.

John George Brown
I recently acquired a 1894 lithograph, etched by C. Mercier of "A Sidewalk Dance" printed by Fishel, Adler and Schwartz, originally painted by John George Brown.
The Athenaeum.com lists this original painting is in a private collection. Does anyone know more about this painting and any of the history behind it?
John Brown is one of my favorite painters. I did not realize artists had black and white copies of their paintings produced for mass circulation in a manner similar to Currier and Ives.
Thanks
