The Hudson River Museum is seeking the current owner of a North African View by Vedder purchased at Sloan's Bethesda in 2002. My research for an upcoming exhibit of Vedder's trip to Egypt has uncovered new information on the date and subject of the piece. email.

I am looking for any information about this print. We found it behind another piece of art in an old frame while remodeling. It is signed by the artist with a copyright of 1899.

Vedder Nile exhibition
The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers is planning a Vedder exhibition for fall 2008 and is seeking any information on the whereabouts of Vedder's drawings and paintings of Eqypt, especially if they have been discovered since, or changed hands since, Regina Soria's catalogue raisonne. the sorrowing soul between doubt and faith
i have a print of elihu vedder the title is the sorrowing soul between doubt & faith. also printed on it was copyright 1893 by w george webb. d appleton & co. new york.photogravure goupil.I know it is a copy but i would like to see if it is worth anything and find out where the origonal is.if anyone can help me i would appreciate it

Elihu Vedder
There are two Vedder firebacks at Virginia
Commonwealth University in houses that date from
the 1890s (The Sun God and Young Marsyas Charming the Hares.) The Sun God was manufactured by Smith & Anthony of Boston (with Vedder's knowledge) and other was manufactured by Scanlan & Co. of Kentucky (probably w/o Vedder's knowledge.) I would welcome any information on any other firebacks based on Vedder paintings as well as any information on the Sun God or Young Marsyas Charming the Hares (this
sold under the name Marsyas Enchanting the Hares.) And/or information on Vedder. I am currently a graduate student in Art History at VCU.

Original Vedder paintings
a family member passed away and left behind several small paintings signed by this artist. various subjects, some on canvas some on a board material. several sketches by an artist L.A.Nourse are in the collection.
