Fletcher Benton I am the current Art teacher at Jackson High School in Jackson, Ohio, where Fletcher graduated from in 1931. I do a unit every year about the work of Fletcher. My students are amazed that one of their own has made such a contribution to the Art world. It is a source of pride and hope for my students. I am doing my graduate work at the University of Rio Grande and pass by one of Fletchers letter sculptures everyday in the middle of the college green. It is so cool to know that this piece and others like it around the world has a connection to Jackson, Ohio.

Fletcher Benton Around 1958 I lived with my husband in North Beach, San Francisco. I was a student and worked in a bar, Vesuvio's on Columbus Avenue. One month Fletcher was not able to pay his rent, so we bought one of his paintings (dated 1956), which is hanging in my living room nearly fifty years later.
