Is my sketch worth anything? I recently found a Raphael Soyer sketch at a thrift store. On the back of the frame is a label from A.P.I. Inc. Framemakers & Conservations. 515 East 91 St. NYC Showrooms on: 331? East 60 St. and 1001 Madison Ave. It looks like a sketch and it's of a girl sitting on a bed, fingers in her hair, with a mirror behind her. I took it to a local art gallery and the woman immediately handed me papers wanting me to sell her the piece, but she wouldn't tell me anything about it. How can I find out what this piece is and what it's worth?

pastel of jfk by rahael soyer i have had this image tucked away for awhile now and always thought it a copy. but, upon closer examination i have found that the signature appears to be by soyer. i would be happy to email an image if someone is interested. i would really like to find someone who can tell me for sure if this is or isn't by raphael soyer. it is a portait of john f. kennedy (i believe from his funeral card)it is large about 16 x 20 inches. everything is done in black, but the face which is done in white, blue and black pastel.a very disturbing image. mahalo from hawaii

raphael soyer Indiana Museum of Art may still have one or more paintings by Raphael Soyer donated to the museum circa 1973-74 by my mother,Onya LaTour McCann, as part of a rather large collection of primarily New York artists of the '30s and '40s. The one I personally know of is a small oil portrait of me in a red dress, at age 10 - PS: E-mail address is valid; local Calif. Lanset is a local northern Calif. ISP.
