On 12/10/2004 someone asked about a painting of a white dog on a hill watching an airplane in the distance. The oil was done in 2000 and is called "Skittish Dog." It is featured in a catalogue called "The Dog Days of Summer" - 2007

Charli: I have long followed Jamie's work and met him at a show of his in NYC in 1988. You are referring to two separate oil paintings done in his mid-to-late teens. The ''Miner''s Hat'' one is called "Mushroom Picker" and the other, of the guy in the t-shirt, "Shorty". You should be able to find reproductions of both on the web or in the handful of books done on Jamie.

Jamie Wyeth painting
Around 1963 there was an exhibition at Swarthmore College in PA near Chadds Ford, I was an art major in a high school nearby, we visited this exhibit of NC, Andrew and Jamie, I was a goner for life, I visit Chadds Ford whenever I am visiting my family in PA. My question is to any one that would know -- a painting by Jamie of a man in a chair wearing a miners helmet, I believe he was a mushroom worker, another clue -- he had on a musle T-shirt -- if my recollection serves me (questionable at this age). Does anyone know the title of this painting, if it is in print, where? I believe Jamie was around 16 or 17 when this was painted. I am not sure -- I was young but have never forgotten how that painting was lit from within and seemed to be alive, eyes following me.

Too bad "Realists" have to struggle for recognition and support/sponsorship from galleries, shows, universities/museums, etc. Very few get deserved fame; Jamie Wyeth is one of them.
