I am looking for any information on privately owned art work by S.W. Woodward for a retrospective I'm working on.....

Stanley Wingate Woodward
IThis artist has an etching listed in the San Fran Museum of arts database on the web. The etching is of the Charles River in Boston. I believe that I am in possesion of the original. I have had it looked at and was told that it is not a print and should be examined by a museum or Gallery. Is trhis possible that someone could end up with an original and not know it? If so whats the best avenue to persue for finding out about its history and value. Thank you
