Fred Machetanz Brian, Do You know what Machetanz means?? It means 'make a dance.'Dorothy if you have what you think is a charcoal dated 1937, it probably is. Mr. Fred did many things in many mediums in 1937+. He did many of Ohio State's football programs.

Fred Machetanz I met Mr. Fred in 1970, his son, Traegar was playing football (one of his great passions) with my brother. Met Miss Sara some years later. The Lithograph you have is probably '80 Winters'. Also the Polar Bear head is a print of 'Binky'the polar bear at Alaskan Children's Zoo. Was done as a fund raiser for the zoo. Mike would love to try to help you identify your FM. He did # his Lithographs. If you haven't come up with an answer yet. My sister works for HighRidge Art Studio (FM's). Sherry

Frederick Machetanz Trying to find out if the Machetanz artwork we have is charcoal or a stone lithograph. It is signed and dated 1970. We were told it is charcoal but cannot find anything about his charcoal artwork. It is the portrait of a rugged looking man - shoulders and head. Quite striking.

Frederick Machetanz I have a Frederick Machetanz piece of art that looks like a water color or charcol style drawing, it could be a Lithograph but I can't tell. Its is signed 1970 and is in a frame that it was put in by a shop in 1970. Its not numbered though, did he number his lithographs? I can send a photo if it could help someone let me know. I look at a lot of books and websites and have not seen this piece art.

FM I always have and forever will marveal at the splendid work on my Grandma's walls. Meeting FM and S only a few times, I still quickly learned how lovely both of them were. My grandma is F's cousin. The pinting that I can never keep my eyes off of is of dances in pink that hangs above the fireplace at my grandma's

Mr. Machetanz My grandmother was from Kenton, OH and a friend of the Machetanz. I was saddened to hear of his death. I have a couple of prints and an autographed book by him. Best wishes to his family; he was a great painter!

"Panuck- Eskimo Sled Dog" I lived in Alaska during WWII and have this book given to me by my cousin. My Mother worked for the Coast Guard in Ketchikan, Alaska then. I love the illustrations in the book, many in color. It was published in 1939, the year I was born and the story is about an Eskimo boy named Andy!!!
