earlier works I am interested in finding information about earlier Franz Kline pieces. The piece I am looking at is modestly representational and in color, perhaps more cubist than his more famous black and white work. I am 90% certain that it is indeed a Kline. I am especially interested in any examples of his signature that were done in cursive.

Franz Kline Exhibition Catalog I am looking for a copy of the Catalog from the European Franz Kline Retrospective (Franz Kline: Art and the Structure of Identity) dating from 1994-1995.

Information Sought for Kline Monograph "Stephen C. Foster, an author and curator, is creating a comprehensive, twofold catalogue and monograph on Franz Kline that will concentrate on the artist's post-1946-47 work. He has established www.franzkline.org in order to facilitate participation of individuals and organizations holding works by Kline or who have been historically involved with Kline. For more information, contact Tiffany Demaray, 666 Walnut St., Des Moines, IA 50309; 515/288-7007; fax: 515/280-1548."

Authentication ? In the summer of 1978, I was apartment-hunting in New York City's East Village, and came across some abstract paintings that were being thrown away. The largest one caught my eye, so I fit it into the back of my car and took it home. Ever since, almost every person who has visited me has told me to get rid of it, but I can't because there's something aboutit that just 'feels good'. Recently, I was visiting a friend who was close to Harry Gough, and he showed me the book Harry had written about Franz Kline. I almost immediately recognized the works in this book as being all too similar to my canvas. When I found that Kline had, in fact, lived in the neighorhood; and that some of his other works involved the same color schemes - I felt I might have something that should be shared. Sotheby's doesn't have anyone qualified to authenticate this painting and I'm not totally sure of where to go to try and get an expert opinion. Any suggestions ?
