Nauman Record Set at Auction This news is quoted from today's ArtDaily!
The most exciting moment came when bidding started for Bruce Nauman's "Henry Moore Bound to Fail (Back View)," executed in 1967. A wax cast of the artist's back tied up and bound with string, it was considered by experts to be "a history-book piece." Christie's estimated the sculpture at $2 million to $3 million. The sculpture sold to an anonymous telephone bidder for $9.9 million, a record for the artist.
