Authentication of A. H. Wyant painting I am without a credible authenticator for the collector I am assisting. We have no doubt that his Wyant is authentic, yet his practice is to obtain a letter of authenticity for each painting in his collection from a known expert on the artist. We have been able to accomplish this in the past and still avoid gallery owners. Please advise if you know of a living Wyant expert. Al Johnson Roswell, GA

Wyant in KY From Kentucky Progress Magazine, Vol. 6, #3, Spring 1934: "Alexander Henry Wyant, who has been named as one of America's five greatest landscape painters, lived for seven years in Frankfort [KY] and began painting there." Although this citation gives his middle name as Henry, I believe it is the same person, as his birth and death dates are the same, and the description of his works is accurate.
