Manuel Valencia and the Yosemite Panorama I am writing the first book about rotunda panoramas from the American point of view. These were the biggest paintings in the world, 50 x 400=20,000 square feet that were housed in their own rotundas which were 16 sided polygons. In 1893 Chicago had 6 panorama companies and 6 rotunda panoramas. Manuel Valencia helped Charles Dormon Robinson paint the YOSEMITE PANORAMA in San Francisco in the 1890's.

California Artist Manuel Valencia I was born in Oakland, California. When I was a teenager I took oil painting lessons from Mona Froyland. I have a newspaper article written about Mona Froyland. In it she stated that Manuel Valencia "the well known landscape painter" was her father. Did he have a daughter named Mona? I also have a painting by her and her style is similar to his. I would love to hear from anyone one this subject.
