Jo Mora Sundial Scupture I am an artist that does repair jobs on school tile mosaic & murals and was recently shown a Jo Mora sculpture and sundial in which to repair. The piece was commissioned by Ann Darling school in San Jose in 1930. I have photos of it as well as a newspaper article from 1930 about it. My concern is messing with something of value, I feel as though it probably needs to be properly restored. If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it.

jo mora Jo Mora is not related to any of the people mentioned by Ruth or Heidi.
The silver/turquoise pendant was created in a silver and leather shop in Carmel Ca. co-owned by Jo Mora's son - Jo Jr. They used the name of the father because he was a well known artist, but he didn't make the jewelry.

Jo Mora stables, Pebble Beach Does anyone have information about Jo Mora's life here in Pebble Beach? I have been spending a lot of time at a home reputed to be the converted stables of Jo Mora. The owners have placed it on the market and my wife and I represent them. I had not been aware of Jo Mora before and now am intrigued about his life and times, particularly here in Monterey County. I wonder if his studio was here on this property. Anybody know?

Jo Mora in general Patrick: I saw your question of 10/27/06 about Jo Mora’s studio photograph where he has many items on the wall behind him. I have a number of those things in my collection but to answer your question specifically, I don’t recall him drawing any of those items of three dimensional art other than on the Indians of North America poster. The only association I can relate to regarding Kachinas is his watercolors (a set of 39) that he did of the actual kachinas—not of the dolls themselves. I have sets and individual litho prints of eight of those. If I can be of further help email me directly by clicking on my name.

Mora's Polacca ,Az Studio Did Jo Mora do any drawings or watercolors of the Hopi artifacts that decorate the wall behind his desk//table. I am particularly curious about his kachina dolls. These artifacts are visible in the archival photo at NAU #422.

F. Luis Mora web site We are friends of F. Luis Mora's family. Luis was Jo Mora's older brother, and they were a close family. Jo lived on the East coast until he was 25 years old. We are working with Luis Mora's estate to develop a web site. It will feature this brilliant American artist with Hispanic heritage. It is in the beginning stages of construction. We would appreciate jpegs of paintings, prints or watercolors to display on the site. We are also available to answer questions, whether personal queries about Luis Mora's life and legacy, or about specific artworks. We are able to answer any questions about Jo Mora prior to his reloaction to California in 1901. Thank you, and best wishes.

the Jo Mora Maps book Jo Mora created some of the most beautiful and interesting pictorial maps and posters and I am bringing them all together in a book on the subject. If you have anything interesting to tell me about him and his maps that I am not aware of, I will add it to my book and give you credit. Thanks and Adios

1925 S California Jubilee Half Dollar Among Mora's much lesser known works, was his design for the 1925 S (San Francisco Mint) Commemorative Half Dollar, his only numismatic creation. I am seeking ANYTHING and EVERYTHING about his design, his commission, and his involvement. Much is known; but, much could be added. Hope to author a series on Mora; Half Dollar. Thank You.
