Dora Block Alexander I have just purchased a small pastel - framed with a personal note written on the back "with love to dearest Esther from Dora" and a date of Jan. 25 1936 with the street address in Mission Beach Calif. She entitles it 'Satsuma' It is charming with an oriental vase with figures on it and flowers placed in it. If anyone knows more about the person it was dedicated to or anything about Dora during the time she did this work please comment. Thank you.

Dora Block Alexander I have learned more since February. When Dora died in 1980 in Woodland Hills, CA, my grandfather, Harry Block, went to her home which was lined with paintings. He took approximated 10 and then we have no idea where the others have gone. We are also very curious where the "SARA" came from. According to my aunt, Jackie Block Abraham, she never heard anyone call Dora "SARA". Dora was a very very small lady.

Dora Block Alexander Dora Block Alexander was my grandfather's sister. She was probably born in the 1890's. I am not sure when she died. Their father, Alex, had immigrated from Lithuania to escape the Czar..as I understand it. I believe she lived and painted in the San Diego area. We have two of her paintings which were passed down from my father. I would like to know more about her but my father and grandfather have passed away.
