Where the Sun Goes
I have what appears to be an unnumbered print signed by Robert Wesley Amick. The title on the back of the frame is "Where the Sun Goes." It depicts an Indian brave in the foreground croaching on a large rock with two younger boys sitting next to him. All are looking in the same direction. Does anyone have a similar print. The framed print was given to me 60 years ago, and I know nothing about it

"Where the Sun Goes"
This was puchased at an antique auction in Canada. It is framed in what appears to be an old frame. There seems to be some acid damage on it. Do you have any suggestions of how and where this might be fixed? What might the value of this print be with and without damage?
Thank you for your help...Kathy

RE: Amick covered wagon print queries
I recently bought a copy of this 18x30 print for $50. at an Oregon antique dealer who called it "Conestoga". That is the type of wagon depicted but is not the actual title. Others have called it "Oregon Trail", "The Pioneers", and "Covered Wagon". I believe the actual title is "The Pioneers". I bought it only for the original oak frame c.1920 as the print itself is badly faded and sun damaged. R.W. Amick painted the original (note to mangum, tex - you don't have it!) about 1910 and in the 1920's thousands of prints were made of this and a dozen of his other 'Old West' style paintings by a New York art house. They were distributed to schools across the US and so they are certainly not rare. His prints are however popular today and sell regularly at auction and in art galleries and antique shops. One copy of "The Pioneers" sold on eBay in 2006 for $175. Another is for sale at an web gallery now for $225. Other copies are featured in auctions usually with pre-sale estimates of over $1000. but I don't know if any actually sold for that much. Unless your copy is in excellent condition (no tears, no foxing, always kept under glass, and out of the sun!) it's not worth much and there's no point insuring it separately. SJ

Oops...!
Whoops, I forgot to add, be sure to place the word "Query" in your subject line as it is a word that my system recognizes to be important, and so you can rest assured if you place it in the subject line, your email will not go into my trash folder by mistake.

Assistance...
For anyone seeking assistance with their Amick art (or artwork, in general), feel free to send me several good photos of your piece, including any signatures or writing that can easily be seen. (Please do not open the back of any piece if it is currently sealed, you only lower the value by doing this!)

Also, please do not try cleaning any painting or print on your own, there is simply no safe way to clean these w/o professional help.

Sincerely,

Linda Talley

Where does the sun go
I purchased what I think is a print, framed in an antique shop. The name of the print is "where does the sun go", is it the same print enquired about by Denise Stenner? The print has Indians looking out over the plains. It is currently in my father's house so I may have the title slightly wrong. It is framed, and like Ms Stenner we have not taken the picture out of its frame but are assuming it is a print..Is there any value? The gentleman at the antique store told me that the frame was quite old, maybe 40s or 50s but not sure. It could be older but have not had it examined by an expert. I would greatly appreciate any information.
