Brenda -- I am Kenneth Milton Chapman's grand-niece. I have just co-authored a biography of Chapman, with Karen Barrie. (It is currently being reviewed for publication.) "Chap" is best known as an expert in Indian arts. He spent most of his life in New Mexico, but was raised in Indiana. He probably painted the landscape after studies at Woodstock, New York, where he attended John Carlson’s landscape class. Chap attended the class in preparation for painting the St. Francis murals (with Carlos Vierra) that hang in the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I have a watercolor landscape that is signed K. Chapman, 1915. I have been searching everywhere to find out something about the artist, for it is artist framed in a very nice walnut frame and with dustcover. I have had it for many years. My grandmother bought it in Indiana in an antique shop probably 30 or more years ago, for the frame. I took it to Antiques Roadshow 5 years ago in Milwaukee, but they told me it was by an unknown artist. I do not feel this is true, for it to be signed and dated and framed as nicely as it is. I have a very strong feeling that I may have found the artist through you. Is there any way for me to confirm this? Thank you for your time.
