I bought a Robert Wood Litho at a garage sale this summer. Bottom left says 1956 Donald Art Co., Inc., N.Y No 2263. The title of the Litho is The Grand Teton by Robert Wood. "Signature" in right hand corner with 56 below it. Is this worth anything?

Robert Wood/Carlo of Hollywood ???
I have a Robert Wood print and a numbered Carlo 37/70 (of Hollywood perhaps??), both depicting the same scene.
The scene is a pond or stream with a boat and fisherman, a mill/(barn?) on the far shore, with light streaming across the water from behind the mill.
Since Carlo had crews painting for him in quantity, it seems logical that he used a Robert Wood scene as a subject for this painting.
Has anyone seen a similar painting or print?

The frame is very heavy and is the original. Both the frame and the print look to be vintage. Can anyone tell me anything about this print and possibly its worth?

I have no idea how to tell if it is original or if it is a copy. on the lower corner of the paper it says Printed in USA so I am thinking that means it is a print but don't know enough about this kind of thing to be sure. i was curious about the name robert wood and had gone on another site.i saw the painting path of gold. it is a landscape with a treeline on either side and a road running between. i bought a painting which i liked cheap. on seeing the name robert wood i started to dig. the signature is representative of the original signature with some differances.now noone always signs their name always the same but useally close. the painting i have is a scene of trees on each side of a river with clouds reflecting in the water and the sun is coming in at the right side. there are also mountians in the back ground. i'm sure if it was a forgory the artist would not use this name and plate it as this artist's work. if it were an artist with the same name they would not stroke out the letters the same. so did robert survive out a son maybe who carried on his work. the painting is 24"x60". i know it is real enough to be in my living room but is it anything else beyond that?

I have a picture of Robert Wood October Morn.. It has his signature on the front right hand bottom corner with the date. I do not know how to tell a reproduction from an original. The colors have there own outstanding forcefulness They don't run together and it looks like the paint was brushed not computer made but like I said I am not sure. Can anyone help me?

I took one picture signed by Robert Wood at the right hand side with the number 56 (I believe is the year)to a Antique Dealer and he thinks I have a Oil on Board signed by Robert Wood, the painting seems to be a Autum Painting with a lot of trees with the leaves turning yellos and a big rockat front at the left side, and what it seems to ba a creck. The colors are very Autum, it seems so real that when I look at it seems to be real water in the creck. I have two more paintings signed by Robert Wood but this gentleman told me that they are copies.

I have several Robert Wood paintings, but probably most are just prints. I have one, however, that is 14x30 but the interesting thing about it is - there is another painting on the opposite side of "Autumn Bronze". I have never seen anything like that before. Of course, it is signed by Robert Wood but there is no gold plate or name of the picture. I found it in a Donald Art pamphlet and identified it from that. Wood was a prolific painter and more than one hundred of his paintings were reproduced as color reproductions. The reproductions date as far back as the 1920's, so they appear to be antiques to those less familiar with art. Because these were just inexpensive prints they have no collector value, but serve decorative purposes when they are in good condition. all I did is take them out once to look at them so I opened

wanna open the tube at this time to see.

"Mystic Pond", "Autumn Leaves", "Breakers at Twilight", "Autumn Sunset", "October Morn", "Approach of Winter", "Early Spring" and "Autumn Sunset" are just a few titles of the more than one-hundred Robert Wood prints. These were all mass produced prints and so they are just worth a few dollars. Most have "D.N.C.N.Y." on them which is "Donald Art Company, New York", the publisher. The prints were published in different sizes. Many were packaged by Illinois Molding with frames and gold title plates to dress them up, but they were all inexpensive prints.

I have a framed Robert Wood "Mystic Pond" measuring 20" x 48" with the brass name plate on the frame. The signature appears on the lower right with no other information that I can find anywhere. It is on a thick textured paper(simulated brush strokes?) that appears to have been adhered to a heavy cardboard backing, so I imagine it is a repro but It does have some age to it and the previous owner had it for 30 years. Does anyone have any information as to how long these have been made and is there any value to them?
The picture is in perfect condition but the frame is showing it's age. If there is any value, would any be lost through refinishing of the frame?

We have what appears to be a painting by Robert Wood. however it also looks as if it is stamped at the bottom of the picture. it says "Mystic Pond by Robert Wood" and of course on the lower left corner it says 1967 Donald Art Co. Inc NY No 5265 and on the lower right hand in fine print it says litho USA.

Is this worth anything besides its beauty?

The three titled mentioned in the inquiries below are all common, mass-produced reproductions. Many of the prints were packaged in frames that were nice for the day with little gold title plates. These framed prints were often sold by Illinois Molding Company, Winde Fine Prints or other companies. "October Morn" was the most common of the reproductions and more than one-million were printed. People often confuse the prints for paintings, as some of them were printed on textured surfaces. None of the prints are worth more than a few dollars. The paintings were usually done on canvas, the prints on paper or cardboard, usually with paper backing, but with the paintings you should see the canvas from the back, usually with a hand printed title in the artist's hand. I have an "Autumn Sunset" painting signed by Robert Wood on the bottom right hand corner. Gold frame-not dated & measures 24" x 36". How can I tell if its real? I cannot find anything about this print - it is approx. 30"Wx24"H, framed with a "Robert Wood" name-plate. It is in great condition.

I recently purchased a reproduction of a Robert Wood painting and I am unsure of what the name of the picture is called and unsure of the value of the item. The picture is of a lake with small cabins with red roofs and pine trees in the foreground. It appears to have a mountain in the background. Very interesting painting of bluebonnets with an plaque enscribed to my grandfather from his "official" family. Given the age and history I tend to think it should be in a museum. What do you think?

On the back is a sticker stating the name of the painting as "Autumn Bronze" framed by Academy Arts, 1840 Clybourn Ave., Chicago, IL 60614. The painting is approximately 36inches by 60inches. We own a G Day oil--a blubonnet scene purchased by my step father in San Antonio--story is that He painted in the store window at Joske's Dept store--was perhaps an alcoholic at the time and if he was pleased with a work, he would sign it G Day meaning that he had a good day that day.
We love it ---inherited it.

I was delighted to see that AskArt and the latest edition of Davenport are recognizing G.Day as one of Robert Wood's pseudonyms.Wood used G.Day exclusively while he lived and painted in Texas. There are many theories about this issue. The most prevelant seems to be that this allowed Wood to paint ouside his contractural relationships with dealers representing him at the time. Another theory is that if Wood was not pleased with a painting, he would sign it G.Day. Of the total number of G.Day paintings I have seen, in my humble opinion, they appear to be some of his very best work. A G.Day painting was auctioned on 9/16 by Matthews Gallery titled Autumn Road in Early Autumn. It can be viewed at AskArt under auction results. You bee the judge. I would like to hear from anyone that owns G.Day paintings so we can share provenance, genre, history etc. Thank you.

I have a 24" x 30" painting done on 1/4" hardboard of some kind, entitled on the paper backing of the old frame "PATH of GOLD" and signed "ROBERT WOOD '46" in the lower right corner. I have several lithos with "Litho USA" and "DAC:NY" on them. Also included on them are the catalog # from the Lithographer and the titles. He signed his name Robert Wood on all of them, without his middle initial. I have "Ocean Spray" (quite large), "Pacific Sunset", "Autumn Bronze", and "Mountain Campers". On the back of the last one is a stamp "Sheffield" with the same Catalog # from the front (105-M) 8 x 10 by Robert Wood.

If I remember right, my family bought one every year from him someplace by Astoria, Oregon. Just a little roadside stand he had I think, or a small shop. This was roughly 40 years ago. I remember shaking his hand when he told me to keep up with the painting.

I too have a Golden Surf . I am not sure if it is a reproduction it has a brass name plate on it as well with the painting name and Robert Wood on it. It is at least from the 1970s because of it being in the house since then. We know nothing of it.Or even if this is the right Robert Wood? I read that a repo up close has black dots. Mine does not. It looks like hard canvass under a magnifying glass and color. There are pencil markings and numbers on the back. Any help is appreciated and how do I find out if it is a reproduction or not?
